Mira 2015 CVT fluid level check?

My mechanic says the fluid is overfilled as level is above the hot marker and needs to be drained

Can anyone guide me the correct way of checking level?

Car at operational temperature then gear in Park before pulling out dipstick ?

Yes level check is with car straight, running engine with gear in park, the cold and hot is not just the temperature gauge of your engine, its actually the temperature of the transmission oil itself

So if you are checking with car not driven at all for 6 hours at least then adjust to cold level, remove excess oil.

You will need to remove, wipe and check the dipstick 3 or 4 times for correct level inspection.

Thank you sir. Just to re-confirm I've left car standing level overnight. Now with engine turned on I don't have to wait for car to reach normal operating temperature and can start the drain process immediately to reach the cold marker on the gauge?

Well I prefer to check atf hot level.

After running the car from office to home, keep the engine running, park straight and pull the dip stick wipe it clean and then re-insert it and check the level.

But i do this for my vehicles who are equipped with 4-speed forward.
