Mira L250 engine swap or overhaul

I have Mira L250 2006 model , car engine is almost towards it's end. I am confused whether I should overhaul the engine or swap it. My mechanic says L250 's engine is same as of Daihatsu coure therefore parts won't be any issue. Pls advise

Coure has a 800cc engine while Mira has a 660cc engine hence they're not the same. How do you know that the car engine is almost at it's end?

I am aware of the cc difference, but as far as I know both have e series and L3 engines, so will there be any parts interchangeable.? Fyi car burns 1 ltr oil in week.

Only burning oil doesn't mean engine is at end. Check some basic things first. Go to some better mechanic plz.

bad valves or rings IMO -- engine can run upto 400,000 KM if maintained on time and properly with a suitable grade engine oil.

Both have different engines.

Our cuore L500 came with ED-10 engine.....also it came with ED-20, EF-CL, EF-JL and JB series engine but not in our market.

The Mira L250 came with EF-SE engine in our market mostly....there are few of em with EJ-VE or EJ-DE too whch were 1000cc

I would suggest to change ur mechanic if he suggest engine change because he cant do overhaul and has incorrect engine info.

What's the total mileage of ur car and what oil were u using?
Oil burn is not that big issue and can be resolved with overhaul.... unfortunately i cannot tell about wrkshop fr good work but others here can if u share ur city/location

Also note the engine EF-SE and EJ-VE/EJ are hard to find....let alone good condition coz they were produced between 02-06

Thanks for all info. Car is at a stage where oil viscosity won't matter, as it's not even able to hold engine oil in it at first place, it's living on oil sludge. This car has not been maintained properly and is just running in this condition for past 2 years (driven by driver). My mechanic has been suggesting overhaul against swap. My only concern is are L250 parts easily available in karachi and has anyone overhauled it successfully as I hear 660cc engines don't perform the same after overhaul?
