Mirpur to Muzafarabad

Salam all. i wanted to ask u guys something. is there a road that goes from mirpur to muzafarabad? in summer i am going to shugran, either with family or with frds on bikes. instead of taking the boring route of lahore to islamabad via motorway and then to muree and then forward. i wanted to try some new route. i wanted to go through gt road till jehlum and then go to mirpur and then muzafarabad through ajk. or go to gujrat then bhimer then mirpur and then muzafarabad and finally murree. if there is a road that can go from mirpur to muzafarabad then plz let me know. and also advice how long will it take to reach muzafarabad from mirpur via that road? and also road condition? and also if its safe from security point of view. i eagerly look forward to your replies

yes there is a road, security situation in AJK is overall very good. The road you choosed is very good choice (Mirpur - muzaffarabad) you can traverse the whole Kashmir on this way. All districts.

When you reach Muzaffarabad, You can go directly Murree (81 Km) and also go to Mansehra (distance might be 60-80 Km via garhi Habbiullah)

Muzafarabad to Balakot, you can also go direct via Garhi Habibullah Bissian Balakot.

You can leave G T road from Gujrat and can go towards Bhimber but the road conditions from gujrat to Bhimber are pthatic.So from Jhelum u can go to Mirpur then Kotli - Tata Pani - Rawlakot and then Muzaffarabad.After that u can go anywhere u wana Go.!
And Security Situation in Azad Kashmir is overall good but between Mirpur and Kolti there is some problem at night time so try to pass this area during day time.!

thanks for the detailed reply, do u have an idea how much time it will take to go from jhelum to muzaffarabad if one is going on bike? can we complete this route in one day? also is it jeepable track or can cars pass through here as well?

its not jeepable. But due hilly drive, it will be hectic. Az not just trespass the area, also do some sight seeing. so I think you must stay at Rawalakot.

Also do travel always in day time, while driving self or in hilly areas.

For safety and sightseeing also.

A lot of mazars/darbars in AJK.

Also a lot of places with name shaheed e.g. shaheed galla, shaheed pani etc.

The Famous Darbar in MZD is Sain Saheli Sarkar..and i think u r taking about Baba Shadi Shaheed located in Dist. Bhimber.and there is another Famous Darbar in Mirpur Named Khari Sharif.

i dont think that you can complete your journey in one day..Road is Good enough for Cars and Motorbikes.you better stay night in Kotli or in Rawlakot.!

The Famous Darbar in MZD is Sain Saheli Sarkar..and i think u r taking about Baba Shadi Shaheed located in Dist. Bhimber.and there is another Famous Darbar in Mirpur Named Khari Sharif.

Muzaffarabad, Kotli Mirpur is hot like Islamabad.

Rawalakot will be pleasant.

AJK terrain is hilly. the areas having lower altitudes are not cool in summer. Higher altittudes are pleaseant.

Kotli and MZD have same temp like ISB but Temp in Rawlakot l"ll be v pleasnt..

yes, from Bhimber Main Chowk Namely Lt. Khalil Shaheed Chowl ask any1 about Choki Smahni Road..then go straight 4wd on tht road and aftr an hour u"ll reach deir.!
