Mitsubishi Galant 1994 auto gear valve body

AOA. Dear pakwheelers one of my friend recently replaced the auto gear of his Galant 2004 from Bilal Ganj. But now car isn't shift smoothly. The mechanic said that it needs to replace valve body in the gear box which unfortunately not available in Lahore bilal Ganj.
Any fellows who can help out in any form to source it from Karachi, Pindi or Peshawar. pls reply or PM me.

Rebuild the body, its not too difficult.

But more importantly, how did mechanic deduce the valvebody is bad?

Did he install same kind of transmission which matches to tcu? Jdm model vs dewan model have different tone ring for the input clutch pack. Meaning it will read wrong rpm.

You need a scan tool to see the transmission input and output speed along with the commanded shift pressure, do not rely on the speedometer as that is getting canbus data from the abs pump.

Thanks Xulfiqar for the reply. the valve body has been cleaned and car is scanned with computer which shows errors in transmission. further the car is 1994 model which i wrong mentioned earlier as 2004.
The car feels in 2nd gear when launch from standstill.
any thing else we should check. Does these cars has separate control unit for transmission or have built in with engine control unit.

For such an old car I would have gone for a manual. Actually I would go for a manual whenever swapping the tranny or engine because its easier that way.

even on the 1994 model with carburettor engine, it still had a TCU - its in same place as later EFI galant, The TPS is on the carburettor itself and the engine has another coolant sensor just for the TCU. All need to work properly for the TCU to shift properly on the older model unit.

It has capability to show error codes but requires a mitsubishi diagnostic tool to see that as this car is before time of standardization of OBD codes.

Instead of throwing parts at it, have it diagnosed correctly.
