It could be failing spark plugs or ignition coils.

If the problem is with the idle air control valve then you should also notice rpm drops down to 400-600 initially along with rough idling.

Also, sometimes the problem may purely be the calibration of sensors. You can get that done from someone with a Mitsubishi scanner or a universal scanner that can calibrate Mitsubishi cars as well.

today, did IACV cleaning and it worked. pickup is great and engine sound reduced.

New one is for almost 56,000 from Dewan and you can get the same for around Rs 34,000 from open market.

The problem is that the new IACV is of a different part number than the original one (original one had performance inconsistencies across vehicles) so it requires programming/calibration from a Mitsubishi programming device. The only Mitsubishi dealership is operating in Karachi now so if you’re living elsewhere you will have trouble finding someone to program it for you.

Think of this as changing your printer. The new printer will require a new driver to work with your computer. The same is required for the new IACV in this case. I got my IACV changed in May 2017 but have not found someone in Islamabad/Rawalpindi who can program it. The programming device costs $700-900 and that’s a big drain on your pocket.

Personally, I don’t believe in Chinese/Taiwanese products. I prefer the reliability factor and performance of genuine parts.......will take a hit for a couple of months to fund a costly repair/replacement but the smoothness of the drive is worth it.

You can get kabali IACV for 4-6k or even a complete throttle body for 12-18k with all the sensors but it’s very hard to verify whether it’s removed directly from an imported half cut car or the seller is just selling the already used parts in the market. If the they’re selling already used parts then that’s wasted money.

The previous part number IACV is for around 24k and won’t need the programming.......it’s plug and play because its settings already exist. However, there’s no guarantee how long it will last. That’s the reason why it was replaced with a newer model in the first place.

last sunday i visited Mithu Khan Ahata Saddar for IACV and seller was asking 10k for complete throttle body. they are not selling iacv seperately
but if i replace complete throttle body how to check used/kabli iacv?

If they’re not selling it separately then you’ll have to buy the whole throttle body. However, once you’ve bought it you can only replace the sensor and check.

Alternatively, you can tell the seller to replace the IACV only. If it works, then you’ll purchase the full throttle body.

For kabali items testing before leaving the vendor is paramount. Once you’ve left they don’t take back the items.

How to check IACV:
Keep the car in idle and move the steering, turn on AC, head lights, etc. Idle rpm should be changing as load differs.

Then take the car for a round. There should not be any jerks when you leave the accelerator while slowing down and then pressing it again for acceleration.

u need to know what is the relation of a fault, to a part .. IACV has different checks, some explained above .. otherwise it is not recommended to be opened .. it easily gets damaged even by static charge in (our) body... coils have checks .. replacing coils may not remove fault .. may be u have a fuel filter choked or an injector malfunctioning .. u need to go step by step and logically

Most of the times the solution to the car drinking too much fuel, missing or gears not shifting is to get its ECU recalibrated from someone with a Mitsubishi MUT-III scanning/reprogramming tool. As per my knowledge only Mitsubishi in Karachi and someone in Lahore has this device.

As for the pieces of gearbox breaking what happens is that if the previous owner has changed oil very late or never or used cheap oil then some small pieces of metal shave off due to increased friction and become part of the oil. Since your gearbox parts have worn off, sometimes the metal shavings in the oil are the reason the components are able to work properly. When the oil is changed the metal shavings are no longer there to provide grip to the clutches inside the torque converter. This leads to the gearbox complications that you’ve described above. You may have been facing both issues simultaneously; gearbox not calibrated and gearbox clutches slipping because of oil change.

Also, CVTs are very robust but also sensitive to oil. Always best to use Mitsubishi’s own oil. In my car’s owner’s manual that is Diaqueen ATF SPIII.

i have also visited Mitsubishi islamabad motors and after detail checkup from engine to gearbox they recommend tunning.
main problem is car remains smooth whenever i visit mechanic or electrician for test drive so no one could trace the actual fault. its sort of Hidden Issue

Hidden issues are very rare and often a result of a lack of trained staff. The only official Mitsubishi dealership is in Karachi. The rest have all converted to FAW by obtaining NOCs from Dewan. They’re just using the Mitsubishi trained staff, providing spare parts and cashing in on their past affiliation.

I took my car there too. They have the MUT-II scanning tool but it cannot program your ECU. For that you need MUT-III scanning/reprogramming tool which is available with DEWAN Karachi or with one of their technicians in Lahore.

i owned nissan 2005 sunny. which has same issue as above like no dealership etc. i just buy luanch scanner and get manual from internet and voila from last 1 year no issue at all since these car also get manual re calibration by driver also just download manual from net thats it. all car also do the same.
why r u going to shops for recalibration every time. plz download manual first
