Mitsubishi Lancer Japanese - 4wd - Transmission Issue

Guys : To make it simple, i'm in alot of trouble. My Japanese Lancer which is 4wd, its auto transmission some how broke down while i was on the road. the car had to be towed to a workshop. The guy i get all my cars work done from,he has worked for the local mitsubishi dewan workshop. So the problem now is, as its a 2006/07 model 4wd, he checked everywhere "lahore, peshawar, Pindi. Khi is left, but there is no place where the transmission could be found. i had no idea at the time i bought the car that it was a 4wd .

So please if anyone knows where i can get the transmission from as the parts are in no condition to be replaced. please let me know, the last option for me is to import the transmission from dubai or japan and thats going to be soooooo damn expensive. a guy in lahore Bilal G market said he can get it from japan as their parts are coming in about 20 days, but it will cost to say the least around 60000 rs.

Is the EVO/lancer 4wd transmission the same? I have already checked, the local 2007 dewan model which is 1600cc or 1300 cc transmission cannot be hooked up with the japanese 1500cc model. or even if i want to get the engine replaced, the fittings are totally different, which means replacing everything under the body.

Guys really would appreciate if anyone can lemme know what to do!

a friend had to import a nissan mocco headlight(qty 1 ) eventually because it was not available in pk.cost him 30,000 rupees

If you want to keep ur engine, 60,000 is not bad as it looks. Local engine and transmission replacement will seem to have a bright future but you cannot feel and expect the performance like it is now....

I had a spare 4WD automatic trans that was mated to a mitsu 6A12 originally, I sold it off to a guy who dealt in used auto trans in Karachi.

btw what is wrong with yours? and if you towed the car, Im assuming you followed the critical advice of towing with no wheels on the ground otherwise you can cook the transfer case. Look for other mitsu engines that have them. usually found married to a generic 4G or 6A engine without turbo

i have come to a conclusion that people can do anything for money, specially mechanics. i personally tried to find the gear but couldnt anywhere in lahore or rawalpindi. a friend checked in Pesh but same result. I'm sure the mechanic lied in the 1st place about not finding the gear here in Pakistan. i'm sure he got it from either KHI or FSD, cause he gave me the car yesterday. I dont think so he got it from Dubai or Japan in under 10 days and gave the car back. i checked with A few other mechanics but they had no idea what to do so i had to get it done from the same guy.

Final Cost - 65000 for the Gear (purana wala was cooked) + 9000 for the CVT OIL ( 2 4litre Cans) - + the labor blah blah. ended up paying around 75000 Rs.

so pissed off, i have had the worst experience with this car. i read somewhere that Lancers are the most reliable cars ever. it was a proper survey. :S

I'm thinking of selling it off & getting a new swift. Car is working fine now, i'd say way better then before, the pick the performance is really good. But it has given me a really hard time + really really heavy on the pocket. I really wish it was not such an awesome drive, so sexy looking and the lil cousin of EVO

only thing middle class people need to check is, to buy a car with spares available in junk yard specially

remember never to tow the car with any wheels on the ground, it needs to be flat bed or have freewheel hubs mounted on the road wheels when towing.

Remember to never let the transmission overwork itself when driving. I see a lot of people driving cvts the wrong way, They accelerate really hard and let it coast back. This raises the CVTF temperature very high. Driving it gently would elongate its life and provide the smoothest drive and best economy.

Wait what...? You got a 4wd lancer with a 1500cc engine ? What kind of mileage does it give? How quick does it feel? Would like to see some under carriage pics if you can get some, perhaps at the service station.

For the topic, he might have found parts for your gearbox which can be identical to many other mitsubishi gearboxes. He probably took your transmission apart, replaced the parts, packed in and voila all done.

Yea I'll post the pictures next time serviced. mileage is about 10 km/L with AC in the city and around 12 without it. About how quick it is, Xulfiqar was spot on with it. Its seriously a gentle car, i have driven the local one too, this 4wd feels kinda better with the road grip. & everything.

Allah aap kaasla kald hal karay Ameen....but by the way i am of the opinion that you may buy these JDMs only if u get a very heavy vallet for its repair n maintenance....every imported vehicle is doubtful regarding its milage ad mostly the meters are tmper

Secondly spare parts are hardest to find and hell expensive, once i wanted to buy an imported one, every dealer was saying sultan ka khoo spare parts say bhara para hai, Thanks God i chked mself and found that there was not a single, i repeat not a single spare part was available in whole sultam ka khoo n mitho kham ka haata.only Kayani autos were willing to provide the spare parts on notice of 15 days om exhorbitant prices, mitsu Ek only the headlights were costing 60k , bumper 32k each, genetator 40k.Shukar khuda ka lay nai li japenese gari.I will suggest that every body who wants to buy these importrd cars must go himself to chk the availabilty of spare parts, if you get satisfied then u may go for it happily

For the people buying these, they dont beleive in new spare parts - for them "jenyan worn out scrap" is a good part.

New parts are extremely expensive to find.

Exactly sir, and the most important point here is that if you are lucky enough to find a spare part in junk yark, you again need a good luck that it works perfect, like i have experianced that if u go for even civic's spare parts like power sreering pump, break boaster,generator,break callipers, you will find a good one but after trying three or four of them, probability of getting perfect spare part is still low.

Yep I know,

I owned a VW Golf in Pakistan, its spares are not even found in junkyards commonly. To remedy this problem I had a few scrap dealers that would find some, or I would have to scavenge the godowns to find a part. I found its original radiator fan and shroud for Rs 500/- Its a big 450W motor that makes a japanese fan motor look like Pikachu infront of Thor.

I also found its CV joints with shafts and its GTi gearbox, turbocharger with manifold, turbo engine intake manifold, brake booster/master cylinder etc. I knew how they looked like, so I got them for scrap weight money. New parts I got from Germany or UK. cheap and plentiful - and the car was very easy to repair.

The scrap parts I got needed refurbishing so I would open them up and make sure they are in serviceable condition because I dont like to do the same job twice within a very small time.

Sir, you can do it as undoubtfully you are a professional expert in vehicles Mashaallah , but its not possible for a lay man or even for a person who is into cars to find out the parts through a hactic n painful process, People who are not much cars enthusiastic cant spare time and money to find out spares, neither they have appropriate knowledge that what to buy and from where to buy.So i must say that people who are tym n money concious should avaoid buying the cars with minimum or nil availability of spare parts.

If u want to run it as a 2wd, just remove the rear wheel shaft

If that 4wd system is the one which i think it is, removing the shaft will reduce the power by almost 50%. Removing the shaft is not an option, specially in our stop-go-stop traffic unless you want to run a donkey cart which is bound to have a fried diff and tranfer case.
