Mitsubishi Lancer Spare Parts Availability Problem

Is it true that Lancer spare parts are very difficult to find and if you find them they are too expensive which makes maintenance cost of Lancer way too high than City, Corolla and Liana?

agreed totally. we have a lancer at home. almost 2 years old now. no problem till today whatsoever.

Respectfully disagree, honda city's OEM parts cost about half and some times even less than that when compared with the lancer's OEM parts. No disputing the fact that the lancer offers better value for money than the local manufacturers, but offering a better initial package shouldnt allow extortion of money from the buyers to keep their ride on the road.

BluntKnife - I respectfully disagree, Comparing a City to a Lancer? You might as well compare an Accord to a S-Class. Its a whole different segment.

Lancer/Sunny are not that far off in repair costs as the Civic/Corolla. There was a whole discussion about this on another thread and the end consensus was the Civic/Corolla parts were just a little bit cheaper than Lancer/Sunny parts. What does that mean? The local producers with economies of scales on their side are charging you almost as much as individually imported parts.

and as for Gujranwala i have seen their quality of work tractor components made and exported,, so not all things made in Gujranwala are of cheap quality,, yes true, majority of population donest care and lives in filth.

I have a 1.6 GLX since 1 yr now. So far never had to buy any part (well other than the sonsumables oil / air filter etc which are costly)

but for the body parts i have insurance to cover any issues (god forbid)

AND plz do keep in mind that parts costs are not consistently priced accross different manufacturers ... for instance are you aware that a Cultus bumper cost more than a City bumper !!!! LOL i bet u didnt know that

for comparison a fully painted Lancer bumber costs Rs 17,000 where as the same for Cultus would cost RS 13,000 and for City i think the figure is below 10 K (i think its 8-9K or something) i am not aware of the prices of bumber for civic or corolla (painted) to compare, but im sure atleast Corolla bumper would cost more than Cultus !!

this was just an example ..... some body parts for Honda are way costlier than this low priced item !

yar insurance costs like 3-5% percentage (of invoice) usually .... depending upon how good u know the insurance folks OR u can get a special discount if your employer can give u a facility (my company has a special rate of 3% with EFU which all employees can avail)

Besides that , the rule of thumb is: the best insurance company is the one where u know someone well !! literally LOL .... (on a general note, atleast go for a big company, small ones charge less premium but are not good with claims, EFU and the like are better off in that regard)

the bottom line is that you will get a bumper for corolla/honda for 1800 and that of lancer for 10000+... and bumper breaking of is very common in our traffic nowdays.....
