As Salam Alikum,

Dear All,

I have a concern to discuss or wanted to know about Mitsubishi lancer models starts from 1990s till Evolution. I wanted to know about the car, its performance, its maintenance cost effectiveness. Infact a complete view so I could make decision to buy this car.

How much I know about Lancer is I like to have a drive of this car.

Please guide me in light of your knowlegde and experiance.

I have the same intention as yours and posted the same question but sorry to say either there are very few owners of this car or people have little knowledge about this car. As far as i know or people have guided me it's better than all local brands in terms of luxury, drive and quality. But not as much fuel efficient as other rival cars. Since it's not as much common as local brands, there is a difficulty to find it's parts. Resale is not that good but one interesting thing, if you are going to sell this car, it's very cheap and if you are going to buy it, it's expensive.

lol, its really interesting the hugh spread in between buy and sell. I am also searching local market to find spare parts availability, which is low and parts are expensive too.

Parts for this car are expensive but available from DEWAN Motors Karachi. No point in getting a lancer and fitting it with cheap parts. Genuine parts cost more and last a lot longer as well because they're manufactured to a certain build quality in line with the manufacturer's standards.

Alternatively, you can visit a website called Impex Japan (Google for link). Enter your 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) mostly found on the heat shield in the engine bay. Enter the number in the car parts catalogue section and your entire vehicle schematics will come on display category wise such as engine, transmission, body, exterior, interior, electronics, etc. Every part down to the last screw is number and available for purchase. Even the different faces sent to different markets are mentioned there such as minor changes to bumpers and grill.
You can create your shopping cart and order the items directly to Pakistan. Cost is reasonable but I'm not sure whether you'll be charged a duty once they arrive in Pakistan.
As a start you may use my car's VIN just to see how detailed the schematics are and all.

As for the drive.......it's very good. Still much better than the new local cars coming in. You get a sturdy build quality, a very capable and reliable car, and you have all parts available. In the case of ail filter, oil filter and spark plugs I like to keep an inventory of 2-3 air and oil filters, and one set of spark plugs.

The car loves Shell's Helix Ultra 5W-30 fully synthetic engine oil. It costs Rs 3,660 but lasts 10,000km. No rocket science to maintaining a car. You just need common sense, timely repairs with genuine parts and a support network of people. The last part is a bit difficult to do in Pakistan.

i have 2 of these lancers bhai.. one is in the process of a major restoration. and the only word that describes lancers for me is "love"

i am also not saying that lancers are mercedes or jaguars... but they are unique in pakistan.. they guve a sense of being a bit different than others.
and i love these lancers because they are sturdy, reliable, comfortable etc etc etc.. when all others have paki made tin boxes these tend to stand out a bit

my father has this 91 lancer the only diff is that he has this with 4g93 and he owns it since brand new and he never wants to sell it never...

there are dealers of genuine parts of mitsubishis in karachi specifically allied and mansoor at plaza. han the local spares dealer dont sell quality parts for these cars.. but the cars dont have reliabilty issues.

Plaza has quite a few vendors that do genuine or japanese oem parts quite cheap. Dewan parts are usually double the price that market commands for mitsubishi original parts. The great part about mitsu is fake parts are rare because it's not a running item.

yes one usually doesnot find parts that are cheaply loacally made... but it is rather better to either get genuines or the good condition kabli one
