Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.
Nothing sabotages a healthy conversation like rudeness:
Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
Keep it clean. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information.
Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.
These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if your post was featured on the front page of the New York Times.
This is a public forum, and search engines index these discussions. Keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends.
Senior members may know better. However, I think the best course of action in such a scenario would be that a moderator delete all the posts that are irrelevant and noncontributory to the particular discussion. Even if it is light banter for one person, it may not be for the person it is targeted at. Things like " grow up, be a man, don't be a larki, don't be a child, forget about it, move on, don't waste time on forums, etc" are inappropriate and do not solve the problem. Whatever the person is like in real life, is none of our concern and we shouldn't aim on correcting that. We are all here because we all share a common passion for automobiles and our interactions should be limited to that. Anything beyond is uncalled for. Ofcourse, all of this applies to me as well as everyone else.
In this particular situation, I see that both parties are at fault to a certain extent so to take sides with one would not be the right thing to do. However, if one is offended by the other person's post, appropriate action should be taken. Simple. What they are in real life, what their past life decisions have been like, what they do in their free time, what their occupation is, it is all beyond the scope of a car discussion forum. Politely agreeing to disagree over a difference of opinion goes a long way.
