Good to see you here :), yup they were very common in North, but with the passing time, majority have them have been cut & melted down to make T-Iron & pipes. Very few left & most of the owners are senior citizens & somehow maintaining them. So, apart from the wilder side of Off-roading on UNIMOG, I enjoy the cup of the cofee with the Morris Minor community to keep the balance right

Front indicator light is of LUCAS, Ramzan arranged the same for me & rear light is locally manufactured (got it from Karachi). I am no satisfied the quality of rear light & will be asking the same to ESM for original version.

Thank U DeeDee, the project is moving @ the snails pace and on weekends I have to decide between BeeMog and Moggie. I will post the updated pictures tommorow, the paint job on the body is completed, there are few spots where it needs more attention and hopefully same will be completed by Saturday and will be available for the Next stage. Old wires didn't had flexibility due to age so it will be replaced. Luckily I have found a new windscreen, it was dusty and would need some polishing. Rear suspension and differntial have been taken off, it will be cleaned from inside and out, and fresh black paint over it. Still a lot to do....

A very amazing project, i admire your audacity to take up something like this, truly i do. the Morris is very rare, haven't seen one at all. You are a true restorer, we guys just stick hit and weld it, but you my friend are on the right track, you're research is amazing bump into technical stuff but you have it all figured out. Great initiative and a great ride. Would love to see the project progress, don't worry about it moving slow, it will turn out to be an amazing girl. I'll be eagerly attached to this thread, just keep the details and the pictures coming. Good luck

, appreciate your kind words & Support. I wanted to document these local notes for Morris Punga Project, I am sure this will help the existing owners & also the potential restorers. Yes mine is 1966 with 1.1L (1068cc), which in early days had Top Speed of 77mph (haven’t tested the newly built Motor as yet & don’t have any plans to hit that Top Speed) & consumption quoted by the BMC was 38mpg (16KM/L).

I need those cutting & welding lessons from U, UNIMOG redo is next!

My Cars Engine has been re-built on Standard, I got pistons (MOWOG), for rings & biggens (hard to find item) it took me a week & consistent follow up from Saleem Autos in Gawalmandi. Valves were made by grinding the original valves used in bigger engines (buses), there are very skillful people in the market who can do this Job & quality is better than fabricating it from the scratch. It was built by Mr. Liaqat (Chah Sultan - Rawalpindi), he is Top & probably the only expert left for this car. He is extra conscious about cleaning it before assembling & did a great Job. Gaskets was locally made & all engine seals were made by Mr. Tariq in Gawalmandi who have measurements of both 1.1L & 0.9L engines. As far as personal taste is concerned mine favorite is 0.9L engine due to its quietness!

The Engine will be out for scraping & fresh green paint on Saturday & hopefully it will be ready for fitting by next week.

I faced the delay of almost 1 Month (nothing done) 15 days to find the exact color & the car which has that paint. For 1 week painter had few health issues followed by a short spell of rain. Anyways, this delay give the project more time to focus on details & quality of work done till September. I know how much time this project has taken so No Compromise on Quality (The denter & painter both hate me for this)

Indeed Liaqat is the best morris mechanic and Ramzan perhaps is the only choice for spares. I know both of them since long. There is another guy "Jeddy" in tunch bhatta who used to work with the late "albert's" workshop. Albert was trained by the Morris Company while he was working as a foreman with the importer of Morris in Pakistan - I dont recall the name of the importer - was based in Rawalpindi with branches in several cities. I have owned a few minis, Austin 1100 and, a Moggies at different time - bought the first mini (1962) back in 1986 for Rs. 6,500 only.

Best of luck with the resto - I have Haynes Manual for both Mini and Minor. Since you live in Islamabad, I could lend you the manuals for photo copying when I am in Isloo next (around mid to end end November) - I am not sure if I still have some lucas parts in my inventory

@Razaksyed, good to see someone who knows a lot about the history of moggie in pakistan and specifically pindi. I have heard Jeddy's name but couldn't meet him in last 3 years, and Albert's workshop info is new for me. I will try my best to catch him and share his expereince on Moggie here.
Regarding, haynes Manual, I will be grateful for the same.

Furthermore, I have seen that 1100 Austin in green color still giving good service, the new owner lives in FatehJang and takes very good care of the car.

Yup the quality have been the focus during the process, I requested the same to Liaqat and to Ramzan to give there best effort for this project and they are doing a great Job alongwith denting and paintjob. I am looking for tire size 5/20/14, from where can I get those? (Not found in Islamabad, Rawalpindi)

Badges & Stickers

New Morris Minor came with lot of badges (Total 7) & stickers on each of the product. All of the Electrics items were made by LUCAS for Britain cars @ that time & they branded it the same accordingly, either by embossing the item or putting the sticker over it. Engine was made by BMC & few of the parts were from MOWOG & all of them were embossed. Identifying & short listing them was a task which needed lots of discussion with the people who have owned this car or worked on Moggies & also posting queries on other Forums in UK & Srilanka (Srilanka is the place where most of the Morris Minor parts are still being manufactured, including fresh body parts). Following have been finalized, few of them have been arranged from UK & rest of them will be furbished here!

After receiving it, I noticed indicator blink light is installed on the stick & I was wondering about the function of Orange Lights on Speedo Meter? Furthermore, it didn’t had the dipper & I was confused on how to switch between high & low beams, which means another research & hunt of electrician who knows the car!

I met Mr. Zafar in G-8 I&T center who had good knowledge about it, he explained the circuit it’s functionality, the high & low beam switch is behind the left paddle (like the starting switch in old Ford GW), which was missing in my Car & arranged by Mr. Ramzan. He also told me that the Oil filter of Morris also comes with the warning switch which indicates on when to change the filter, one of the Orange light in Speedo Meter is used for its display. I asked Mr. Liaqat to open the oil filter but it didn’t had the same so I started hunt for the Oil filter which still has that warning switch assembly to operate the same – Restoration on stock is seriously a Made thing to do & everything I explored about this car is linked to an expereince I had
