This is my first proper restoration project, aim was to do the Stock restoration. I bought this car in OK condition, base is important to build a strong building, so all the basics were right, except few alterations like, buckets seats were installed, steering assembly was changed, wiring was out of order, brake cylinder installed from a Suzuki and rear shocks were modified. So, I started from the nearest workshop to initially fix these alterations, make a list of parts I need, arrange funds to buy or import them and then final step is to move towards restoration.

So, I went to the mechanic in G-8 to tune-up the carb as I wasn’t getting a good output from the engine, he said that he wants to put a Corolla 82 distributor in it & Datsun 1200 rear shocks & leaf springs in the rear. So, I moved away. My elder brother (who took all the pain while we started complete restoration earlier this year) referred me to search for this stuff in Gawalmandi, bhao mohalla, Tipu Road & Chah Sultan etc.. So, I with a friend left to Gawalmandi & found a kamani maker who had leaf spring of Morris in his stock, he asked me to search for its genuine rear shocks and referred me to Tipu Road where I met Ramzan Bhai. At that time I just explored few moggie parts, took the stock rear shocks and went back to Gawalmandi to fix my car's suspension.

Ramzan Morris Minor guru, started the Morris cutting & selling business in mid 90s, this was the time when moggies started losing their popularity due to lack of original spares & its economy as compared to Diesel Converted cars, this is the same era when almost all Japs went through 1C engine transplants and any ride which didn’t had room for Diesel conversion was cut down, I will call 1990-1999 as dark age of our automobile industry and majority of the classic cars were scraped in this timeline.

Later on, I took Ramzan as project Manager, as his knowledge about moggies is unmatchable and he had majority of the spares (except detailing), e.g. he installed heater, original steering assembly, all electric buttons, original seats etc. in the initial phase. And when I was ready for restoration, he was there to help me out!

On my first visit to Pindi Kamani wala, I found only 1 shock from Ramzan & went further to Chah Sultan & found Mr. Liaqat who is the best mechanic for this car. I saw a Morris Minor parked in his garage which was in awesome condition, I discussed carb problem, black smoke/kacha patrol from the exhaust etc., he asked to bring the car for tuning (Later in this restoration project, he built the complete engine & Gearbox). Both of these guys were also the key players when a small group in Islamabad/Pindi started setup a club and restored few vehicles from 1998-2003, the club leader went to UK and all activities died with his departure.
