Mohabbat Khan Mosque

The Mohabbat Khan Mosque (Urdu, Pashto: موحبّت خان مسجد) is a 17th century Mosque in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Pakistan. It is named after the Mughal governor of Peshawar Nawab Mohabbat Khan who served under Emperors Shah Jehan and Aurangzeb and who was the grandson of Nawab Dadan Khan (who had been governor of Lahore).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
The Mosque was built in 1670s. Its open courtyard has an ablution pool in the middle and a single row of rooms around the sides. The prayer hall occupies the west side flanked by two tall minarets. According to the turn-of-the-century Gazetteer for the KPK, the minarets were frequently used in Sikh times as a substitute for the gallows. The interior of the prayer hall is sheltered beneath three low fluted domes and is lavishly and colorfully painted with floral and geometric designs.<o:p></o:p>

Last weekend I was in Peshawar on a family trip so I decided to visit Peshawar androon sher and the great Mohabbat Khan mosque. It was a nice trip as it was raining and I saw the real culture of Peshawar inner city life from a rikshaw……<o:p></o:p>

Yar u were in PESHAWAR and didnt informed anyone, this is not fair, at least we could meet or take u to a detailed interior city trip. Anyhow yes mohabbat khan mosque is a great piece of Mughal era, I just could made 3-4 times in my life to offer prayers there.

for this u will need to reach interior peshawar, walled city area, u can reach either sarki gate or kisa khawani bazar or nearest is Chowk Yadgar. this mosque is just in fron of this chowk
