frankly speaking, of all the movie genre', i dislike "horror". (I hate James Bond series the most though ).
One reason is, horror movies are made by second or third rate directors/producers. Good directors usually dont make horror movies. Secondly, i fail to find any entertainment content in a horror movie.
Another reason is - watching a horror movie once in a while aside - regularly watching these movies might make one superstitious, and darpok. It may have psychological impacts, generally on all ages and particularly on kids. Hence a thumbs down from my side for Horror movies.
Just an opinion.

right about the psychological impact. but watch the two movies i ve named. if you dont find them entertaining then you must be a really boring person from my perspective.

My pick is Exorcist(1973) which is generally considered as one of the best horror film of all times. The ring(2002), evil dead, and The shining are also good ones.

I Saw the Devil
Memories of Murder

And a japanese movie which is a thriller not horror "Confessions"

O.S: Korean/Japanese movies have more gore/violence and are mostly rated
