Previously i use to download by looking at IMDB rating but this does not always reflect personal liking.

^^ yup i also agree on the personal liking/disliking factor. And the scale itself is not a perfect one, it has drawbacks. However, in my view usually the disagreement margin with rating is for movies that fall in 6 or above categories.again, IMO the margin of disagreement with the ratings is +/- 2.

Im surprised no one mentioned "The Grudge". Scariest movie Ive ever seen. Woman in Black was also really good and really scary. Gave me the chills. The Pact is another good one although it has its moments of chill. Classics such as The Shinning and Exorcist are good fun but arent that scary. In TV series don miss all seasons of "A Haunting" and "American Haunting - Asylum" both are very good.
When you talk about horror must not forget Japanese movies.Ring , Ju-on(The grudge original), Cursed,Tomie series,One missed call(jap version) and Ichi the killer specially with many more
I recommend Ichi the killer with 7.1 IMDB rating.

i watched Orphan today. and it made me like it especially that girl Esther
I liked all predator films especially aliens vs predator, a nightmare in the elm street (watched in sadar rwp and i was a kid at that time)tremors1, evil dead. For some reason I lost any fascination in the films now do not understand why....may be it is the age factor.
