I would like to request useful suggestions from you to prevent motorbike theft in Karachi.
In March this year, my husband's new Honda CBF 150 was stolen from outside our home in Nazimabad. We live in a small apartment complex that does not provide parking facilities. All residents park their motorbikes outside the building on the street. The bike was stolen in the wee hours, between 3 - 8 am. My husband last saw it outside the building a little before 3 am on the day it was stolen. I am aware that the Honda CBF 150 has a rather sophisticated lock. It's also a weighty bike in itself, plus my husband had installed a leg guard as well as a motorbike top box, only adding to its weight some more. It was therefore a bit surprising as to how the thieves took our bike. They probably loaded it onto a Suzuki wagon and drove off.
My husband loved his motorbike! He still gets upset whenever he sees similar bikes on the road. We are now planning to buy another motorbike, probably not CBF 150 but a cheaper one. However, even the cheaper bikes are quite expensive due to the depreciation of the rupee. Therefore, I am looking up foolproof bike locks/security alarms these days that will make motorbike theft very difficult or next to impossible. A thick metal chain lock also seems like a good idea to me, so if anybody knows of expert blacksmiths that would design a great motorbike lock, please comment and let me know. Goes without saying, better motorbike security suggestions are most welcome!
