yes I have travelled after 8 onthsi route, as one member mentioned avoid kamalia and toba bypass and pass through city centers.

Use Chichawatni-Toba-Gojra road, road condition is good but single.. i also traveled around 9-10pm and in fact I find this timing most convenient due to less traffic and less population around the road.. please avoid Toba bypass..

If ur coming from karachi then u should turn from TARANDA before ITTefaq sugar mill Channi Goth, move towards head panjnad, Ali pur, jataoi, chok qureshi, kot addu, layyah, bhakkar, khansar, mianwali, fateh jang n then motorway. this route will save u atleast 200km. very safe route as I always travel late night to avoid bikes n chingchi. it takes 6-8 hours from jot addu to Isb.

Are you for real man? The route you described is not only a back-alley (broken + two-way) but also a notorious one. Do not recommend it to first-time users.

The route mentioned by Jazz82 is a pathetic one. It's a two way road and broken. Not recommended at all.

Gentleman is coming from Karachi and this is the shortest and fastest route. why he should go all the way to Chichawatni or Mian Channu if he is going to ISB. Its a two way road but definitely not broken.
If coming from Karachi there is another short route Uch Sharif,Alipur, Muzaffargarh, Attarahazari, jhang n Gojra motorway. this route bypasses shorkot Jhang patch.
I travel twice a month to Isb all the routes from this area are almost same as per time is concerned so why not to go from the shortest.

Sir, the gentleman is travelling with family, I would always recommend him the safest route instead of the shortest.
And as far short is concerned, the route you mentioned is 1457 KM from Karachi till Islamabad Motorway M2 toll plaza and the route I and other members suggested is 1459 KM as per google maps. Please see the attached google map references. Even if the route you mentioned is the shortest, the difference is distance is not very significant. Saving a few kilometers and a few liters of petrol is not worth the hectic drive and safety risk.

Route: N5 till Lodhran, Khanewal expressway, Mian Channu, TobaTek Singh, Gojra, M2 till Islamabad

Route (Jazz82 mentioned): Uch Sharif,Alipur, Muzaffargarh, Attarahazari, jhang n Gojra motorway

Gojra to Shorkot section-I & Gojra to Shorkot section-II are awarded
to Chinese companies and it is funded by ADB. Their completion date
was Feb 2018 for 64KM road. We all can hope that it will open in mid
August 2018. Let wait & hope for best.

My source claims Lahore-Abdul Hakeem section is opening on 18 August. Lets see.

Were any sections of motorway opened for public? As per two friends here, one was opening on 15 and other on 18 August...

Any timeline and am wondering since these constructions are done by foreign companies and funding too so these works should not be affected by Gov regime change or anything...whats the reason for this delay and instead of opening just 30km of Gojra-Toba they should provide more relief by opening M4 at-least till Shorkot!!!

sir can you suggest the best route from Bahawalpur to Khanewal followed by Islamabad
Should I take Bawalpur to Lodhran - N5 than Lodhran Khanewal express upto Khanewal OR
N5 from Bahawalpur till M4 Multan - Khanewal Motorway, if this is suggested what will be the entry point to M4 Motorway? the google map showing the U turn from Bahawalpur bypass chowk than join M4,

At this point of time the best route is
Bahawalpur-Lodhran..Multan-Khanewal motorway-Kabirwala-Shorkot-Jhangbypass-Gojra motorway-Faisalabad-M2 motorway

Shorkot to Jhang 56km is somewhat rough patch with literally potholes on the road.

I would not advise on taking the route mentioned by roboxx above as Jhang - Shorkot road is TERRIBLE. I have been traveling alot on that road until I discovered a better route.
I travel often from Bahawalpur to Islamabad and here's the route I take:

Bahawalpur to Lodhran via N5
Lodhran to Khanewal via Expressway E5
Khanewal to Chichawatni using N5
Then Chichawatni - Kamalia - Tobatek Singh - Gojra
Then use Gojra - Faisalabad - Pindibhatian (Motorway M4)
Continue to Islamabad using Motorway M2

The only two way (single track) road in this route is Chichawatni - Kamalia - Tobatek Singh - Gojra. This road is far better than the kabirwala - shorkot - jhang - gojra road.

Total Journey Time: 7 Hours (No stops)
Total Journey Distance: 635 KM
