before it was like 120, 140 & 160 after which it SNAPs , while penalty is now 400, 600 & 1000 before it was 200, 500 & 800

anything above 50KM over speed limit black point, over 100Km car impound for 30 days, 2 black point & 1000.

if they double the fine then they should increase the limit as well

Brother can you tell me a single country where you can drive legally at above 120~140 ? our highways not for racing perpose ,people who just learn on the roads never go to any institute want to drive at the speed of 200 are endangering others life so i am agree with police ,iam happy if they triple the amount of fine or confisicate the licence for 6 month even harsh remove the number plate so the rough rider have to apply again for the new number for all those who are living abroad they understand how difficult to get the licence overseas compare to pakistan so all members DRIVE RESPONSIBLY

Yep, but I was told that on Autobhan also there are speed restrictions at designated stretches. My friend took his Jaguar from 180 to 240 in Cologne and I still remember that feeling. But he drove at this speed for a few minutes.

It is true. Yesterday while coming from Pindi to Lahore I encountered 4 speed traps with a distance of approximately 8-10 kms. And the salt range speed limit has also been revised to 40km/h for cars which is simply ridiculous! :S

I wanted to ask whether the Motorway Police catches speeding violations at night? Because in all my travels during evening/night time, I have never encountered a speed camera nor seen anyone being fined either.

Few days back i saw then sitting near the faislabad exit on M2. Who in hell would imagine someone is sitting 500meters away from fsd exit.

If you pass 1 speed gun it means there is no other for 100km but now they are sitting with 1km distance.

They are sitting near slopes and write you challan at 128 even(yes i got ticket at 128 they said its fine till 125)

From lahore to peshawar there were mostly 3 speed guns and while coming back there were none or just 1.
Now from chuch(its inbetween pesh and isb m1) to chackri there were 4 speed guns.
From Lahore to faislabad there were 4.

The most horrible thing they do is if someone is speeding then they jump in front of the car to stop the speeding car now that is totally Fked up. The other day i saw them standing blocking two lanes just to stop a speeding car.

What are your observations

i am assuning you travel rarely on mway. Every beat on mway has a speed checking camera now. And they have it since a couple of years now. you are lucky to have not seen so many speed cameras before.
Earlier on, the speed limit relaxation was 129km but it has been revised coz mway police is not being given the budget they need. Majority cars need to be replaced as per theor policy but they have no money.
They never jump infront of a car. Thats da reason many people run away. What they do is, the inform the patrol unit ahead of them with the number, make and color of the car. There must have been some other case when you saw them blocking the road as mway police also helps in recovering lost/stolen vehicles and stops smuggling of different items as well.

u r rite i got chalan at 90 speed in kalar kahar at slope.even i applied brakes bt still car was moving fast.they said here 70 is allow here
even in kalar kahar not on any board LTV 70 i didnt see any sign board

The limit is even less than 70 at most places. The slope where they stand with the camera has 70km limit and the board is there just before the bridge starts, before the slope. you missed it

people in Pak dont know how to drive mate. You are driving at 200km with the lights flashing to let other drivers know to give you space but suddenly, a cuore/cultus or any other car driving at a speed of 100km gives an indicator and comes right in front of you. No matter what you do, the other car driver will take 2 minutes to over take a car which is going at 105km (a little faster than him actually) and wont give you space coz he thinks his action is justified as he has given da indicator 120km is more than enough for us yet where people obtain driving licenses sitting at their homes, thanks to Quaid e Azam.

Trust me, I have seen accidents happening where a car going in front suddenly changes lane and the car behind it goes right into the next car. Most of the times, left fenders are damaged.

Speed limit in salt range has been revised to 40 KM/hr for LTV and 30 KM/hr for HTV as I saw new sign boards in salt range when I was travelling last saturday. Also they have started giving time of 25 min to buses,hiace and other HTV to cross salt range. They have also put speed camera on uphill road comming from Lahore to Kallar Kahar. So be aware.

The have devised a new strategy to tackle the over speeding problem of commercial vehicles. Their time is noted when entering from islamabad toll plaza, for example. They report at Kallar Kahar service area. The time consumed should not be less than 1 hours and 30 minutes for busses and vans. Next check is right after salt range and it shouldnt be less than 25 minutes. There are a f couple more checks till lahore.
Same works for other destinations as well.

It has been done to stop the increasing ratio of accidents.

Do they have speed cameras now that work at night even?Once I was caught by one such camera near Indus river bridge on M1.Actually I noted their vehicle parked on road side in the big ground before Indus river while coming from Islamabad to Peshawar and I applied brakes to slow down but then a light flashed and I was stopped by another motorway police vehicle about a kilometer ahead.And the first thing the officer told me was that the officers who caught you over speeding said to appreciate the person driving the car for the fact that he observed us in such dark and he tried his best to reduce speed and it was a matter of a second or so that he was caught.But after that day till today I havent observed or heard of the night speed cameras again......

Speed cameras during day and night are the same. The only additional thing during night time is the flash. The camera has a range of 1 km to check for speed violations. The camera notes your speed long before you know it. The flash has a range of 300 meter. You may not be over speeding when you come in flash's range. but it will still flash and take a snap of your car's number plate because the camera notice and recorded your speed a few moments before it.

bro MY EXPERINCED is very BAD. last week i got two tickets in half n hour and the speed was same 134......
but i travelled last day frm pes to isld for some work and observed that some ISI JEEPS WERE our speeding frm pesh to isld so i followed tht jeeps. four person were sitting in pardo 2 were busy on reading news paper n frnt one is on phn n driver drives tht prado near 190 becaze my speed of chasing him 165 to 175 n we reach to islo in 56mins.. and lots of camera (3,4) they crosse those cameras with nothing is happend n iwas also exzect behind the pardoo...

it isnt necessary that it was an ISI jeep only. Motorway police has a system of broadcasting a message to all patrol cars about informing them about any car that will go fast/over speed through out the motorway. Anyone with contacts and/or agencies can avail this service. The make,model. color and number of the car is passed on to every one not to stop it.

in Germany there are very few places where there is speed limit and speed cameras. The autobahn is free to drive. You can drive as fast you want.
And yes, horrible accidents happen there and now Germany is putting speed limits and increasing the number of cameras to implement the law properly to save human lives.

Yes, they are equipped with night vision cameras and do fine over speeders.

Dont know about commerial vehicles but 40km/h is insane for LTV
I was driving from ISL to LHR on my Altis and it felt completely unjustified. I was hardly moving on a three lane road with no more than 2 cars in my sight. And the road was not dangerous at all.

Motorway police needs money to buy new cars so they set a speed limit of 40km/h on a stretch where I can easily drive at 90 . Not justified

I remember the motor way police stopped me right after crossing a toll plaza in Sindh and offered two goodie bags for my kids and reminded for a safe drive when I was traveling from ISB to Khi 2 years back for Eid holidays.

So the money you pay them in fines is returned to some extent. On that trip I violated the 70km/h zone and got a ticket of 300.

In Saudia I have till yet paid 800 SAR till yet. They have a website through which you can check your violations using Iqama Number.

Yes I have a couple of friends working in mway police and the current head of the department is a relative of mine.

But whatever i shared in this thread has been learnt through personal experience. My monthly travelling is 6-8k between islamabad, sargodha and lahore and all stations are connected through mway.

Earlier on, it was the patrolling officer's duty to detect over speeding vehicles. Their schedule was disturbed if they had more than one complaints/calls for help in their patrolling area and they had to wind up and respond to the complaint. Now, the mway police has made a separate speed check squad which only checks the over speeding vehicles and nothing else. Also, the fine is taken on the spot rather than on exit toll plaza.

As far as the topic is concerned, we (travelers) have made them active. Some silly drivers were cheating a bit too much. Let me share a couple ways with you.
If a driver gets an over speeding ticket, he can easily exit any small interchange after the over speeding ticket where majority barriers are not present and/or do not work. He passes the exit without stopping and paying his toll and enters again from the same toll plaza after 5 minutes. Gets a new card and uses that card to exit at destination.
E-TAG made the life more easier for such adventurers. For e.g, your car has the etag sticker and you enter from lahore and take the entry card, you should take the first interchange i.e. faizpur interchange. Tell them you entered from lahore thorugh etag lane and forgot to take the card. Pay 25rs there and exit without giving the card. Enter again from the other side and take the card. Now you have two cards with you. You can go to any speed limit you like and do not hesitate to pull over if you are spotted while going over the limit. Use one card for all such fines and use the other one at destination

Gradually, Police became aware of such tactics and now they are trying to close such loopholes by collecting the fine on the spot.

But we should observe the speed limit as our lives are precious for our loved ones.
