Much needed advice in selecting car (swift dlx, city or vitz)

Dear Friends

I need help in selecting an automatic driven car for my better half and kids. The budget is around 14 (can be slightly increased). I am flexible on all makes and models. The only requirement is that it should come with an automatic gear. The car will be self driven in Lahore only. I am oscillating between a used honda city over a used swift dlx. The prices seem to be on the higher side. In the alternative, I can go for a vitz but I am no car buff and fear a bad deal. Please advise.

What do you want....swift has more power but lower fuel efficiency....city has less power but more fuel efficiency...vitz is a good allrounder but a 1000cc so less power....personally i have driven city 1.3 and it feels a good car...the suspensions are a bit hard but you can get better driving comfort by changing tyres...otherwise it has reasonable power and fuel efficiency....

My suggesion is go for passo 2014 model 1000cc powerfull and fuel efficent.

thank you for the suggestion. just checked them here and the prices seem more in my budget than a used automatic city or swift 2014 onward. does passo enjoy decent resale say after 4 years? are parts readily available here? lastly, is it ok to buy from an unknown dealer. have never dealt with them before. sorry for the bother.

Well you can buy from an unknown dealer as long as you know how to read auction sheet for the car....

Always buy jdm from a renowned dealer or a knowledgeable person, it is not advised to get one from anywhere else.
Secondly if your better half is just to use it within city, why not get her a 660, more car for the money

Bro go for the JDM , as ur family aint gonna race in the streets of city , so more power shouldnt be a concern.
Unknown dealers ? why go for them when u have authorised dealers like TARIQ CARZ (if u r from lhr) , BTW dealer shouldnt be of cncern if u have some friend or other experienced person who can check auction sheet , never go for JDM less than 4.5 grade.
660s are best for ur situation.

Passo is too a good option.
i'll suggest Passo over Vitz, price tag of a good vitz makes it competitor of Aqua.

thank you my friend for the suggestions. i have almost made up my mind for passo 14 or 15. just concerned over its resale in 4 to 5 years time. some dent is fine but i hope not a huge one? plus please tell me if parts and maintenance are easy ?

Buy a Vitz 2005 to 2010 but be carefull it may be 1.3cc. Otherwise there is some knocking problem in Vitz 1000cc. 1300 is good for daily use.

Resale will be as decent as any market vehicle. Parts and maintenance are easy if a clean and cared for vehicle is purchased, but if a lemon is purchased, like lemons of all brands, this too can be a pain in the ass

Dont take tention of its resale value , jdms are making market more rapidly than u and i can even think.
Jdms have parts issue , parts are expensive than random ones , but trust me u will not need parts too much
i kept JDM for personal use for 2 years , except a bit denting , mje kabhi kisi part ki zarurat nai prhi.

Buy JDM from trusted person. Auction sheets are faked by most. You'll find a 4.5 grade for an accidental car.

Resale would be good for well maintained cars, but don't expect suzuki like resale. Checkout few ads on pakwheels for old JDMs and you'll get an idea. Hopefully.

Parts are expensive, if you use original parts. You can always have local cars parts fixed that suits your budget like screen and mirrors etc. Mechanical parts alre also available (as I heard). Allah forbid any accidents, then its a costly business. But if one drive below 50 kmh and sensibly it should not be a worry. Btw that's where you get best milage too.

If you read out the new JDMs specs you'll find some that have more safety features (nissan and honda) than other "popular" ones in pakistan (mira and passo). I think for use by better half and kids these features can be real handy. Your budget is reasonable to get these. Features like traction control, vsa, back door airbags, keyless entry, 360 degree car view, ....

I bought Honda N-WGN Custom recently for 12.5 lacks. Alhamdolillah. Not auction grade car but trusted dealer and got pakwheels car sure inspection (94%) before full payment for my own satisfaction. It has most of the features that I mentioned. And its one of the most popular car in japan, not yet popular in Pakistan though.

Try to read online about these cars for a few days either on pakwheels forum or better directly on Japanese manufacturers website. Use your mobile phone for instant google translate. Then make your mind for a few options. If you have more than 3 months to wait, better have your choice car imported else try to find one readily available. Also search car reviews on youtube before and after you buy one.

Its an R Grade (Accidental) due to Right side Rear door replaced . but good thing is that its not hit by front so if its AirBags are fine,then you may go for this . since its R Grade so its price should be little lower.

Yes it shows parts replacement history. W and XX on exterior.

Further if you Google translate the image especially the third last line in top table where it says ABS and 9000, you'll see that some recycling fees is mentioned. Below is what I get online for searching Japanese text. (Am no expert on R grade cars :D. Its just 5 minutes googling). I think its air bags are removed and its heavily repaired. Dont go for it.

vitz is best choice....or passo will giv u 17 - 18 km in city with ac if u buy in this bugt
