Super Car Show Parx Mumbai 2011: Parx Super Car Show 2011, organized by the Super Car Club (SCC) in association with Autocar India, took off to a roaring start with excited Mumbaikars vying for a glimpse of the 60-odd super cars displayed at Vidhan Bhavan on January 23, 2011. The auto beauties then paraded the city’s arterial streets, covering Bandra Worli Sea Link and the Western Express Highway until Santa Cruz (East) before returning to the venue, amidst a round of applause from visitors at the show.
Gautam Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director of Raymond Ltd. and Founding Chairman of the SCC led the entourage of super-cars, and handed over trophies to the most desirable cars at the end of the show. The first-of-its-kind series of events in India, the Parx Super Car Show was first conceptualized and organized by Gautam Singhania in April 2009 to enable auto enthusiasts and general public to view some of India’s best super cars, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ariel Atom, Bentleys, Rolls Royce’s, BMWs, Mercedes, amongst others. He is also the Founder & Chairman of the SCC, which he launched in June 2009 together with Hormazd Sorabjee, Managing Editor of Autocar India.
According to Gautam Singhania, one of India’s pioneering Super Car enthusiasts, “The Parx Super Car Show series could be said to have triggered the interest for super cars in India. In 2009 when we started the Club, we saw that interest in super cars was driven predominantly by individual passion. Today, within two years, we are witnessing a growing drive amongst super car owners to participate in similar format shows, and a larger following of auto enthusiasts who are tracking the growth of SCC and its events in various cities. Such growing interest in super cars in India is very encouraging. So much so that the Club over the past year has quadrupled its member base and the number of cities it’s organizing its events in. Last year, we organized the show in New Delhi and Chennai, besides Mumbai. In addition, we held a few drives to exotic locations and some performance shows.”
Adds Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India “As India’s leading auto magazine, it is our Endeavour to create such experiences for car enthusiasts and we are delighted that the Parx Super Car Show in only its third year has grown dramatically.”
Gautam Singhania further said, “We are receiving innumerable requests from proud owners of super cars across India to organize similar shows in their respective cities. We hope to grow the Parx Super Car Show from strength to strength and take it across many cities in India as possible, thus strengthening our connect with other super car enthusiasts across the country. This growing interest for super cars in India is also reflected in the increasing number of super car manufacturers entering the country and the F1 track that is now coming up in Noida.” The 3rd Parx Super Car Show in Mumbai was organized by F5 Advertising Limited.
