Murree-Nathia Gali route vs Abbottabad-Nathia Gali route?

Hello, dear travelers! Could you please help a brother out with some information?

I am traveling with my family to Nathiagali from Lahore next week. I have seen on YouTube that the roads from both Murree and Abbottabad are nicely built. However, I have a bit of height phobia. While I’ve driven to Murree and Monal before, I’ve never driven to Nathiagali.

I want to ask which route will be easier for me, as I prefer not to drive on very steep roads. Which of the two routes is steeper: Murree-Nathiagali or Abbottabad-Nathiagali?

Abtbd to nathia gali is a steep climb! The road condition is good however.

There are ups and downs from Murree side as well.. but it’s not continuous climb like from abtbd side. A little easier than ABTBD.

Correct. I climbed up from Murree side and descended from Abbotabad side just to check. The difference in the angle is evident in some places. However, it is not that bad.

If you are coming from Lahore, Its better to use Abbotabad route to reach Nathiagali as it will save you time and you will travel most of the distance on motorway. Abbotabad-Nathigali climb is steeper than Murree-Nathigali but not hard to climb.

If you've driven to monal and had no issues, you will have no problems driving to Nathia using either route.

in current tourist season you will waste a lot of time from Murree to Nathiagali. Abbottabad to Nathiagali is comparatively better albeit steeper.

Going through hazara express is a better option.

Else in the tourist season express way is badly crowded you save atleast 30/45 minutes.

Frankly, I can spend a bit more time if the climb is easier. Hoping there won't be a traffic jam on the expressway on Sunday afternoon on our way towards Nathiagali.

On a weekend you can expect rush on both the routes..

Hope you already have a confirmed hotel booking, might be difficult otherwise to get a decent room.
