For lead-acid one, Battery's life starts when it is filled with acid, it doesn't matter what is its manufacturing date....

Bro its simple chemisty, Lead-acid battery consists of Lead and Lead Oxide and neither of them are hygroscopic. They only react with acid in aqueous medium which is not present in atmosphere...

Btw this is only true for lead acid batteries. Dry/maintenance free batteries get activated as soon as they manufactured so in that case buy a fresh stock...

Dear, fresh battery gives very less problems and runs longer time then a battery kept in shelf for months or years..............
If manufacturing date is nothing then what is use of it printing and embossing on battery along with battery serial code??????

Yes for personal satisfaction, it is ok....
Btw now most battery manufacturers are not printings manufacturing dates. They just print serials numbers. I have 1 Oaska, 2 AGS and 2 Exide batteries in my use. None of them have manufacturing date printed on them.
Previously they used to print manufacturing date as a first half of serial number, Now all of them have completely changed the format of serial numbers. Now you cannot guess from serial number when the battery was manufactured...

In case of dry/maintenance free batteries yes fresh are best because electrolyte is filled in them at time of manufacturing and that activates them ...
Btw this article doesnt state that it is for which type of batteries.
