Mutt 1988 restoration project - please help

I know there are several threads here for Mutt restoration projects and have load of information but I need help fr any latest info about restoration I am about o make. I don't have any knowledge about jeeps let alone their restoration but am confident that I can do that in Lahore.
i got the Mutt 1988 model and it's body is in fair condition and won't need much denting. I will post pics tomorrow to give u better ideas. I have these questions for the moment. I have a mechanic who says he has restor couple of mutts. So

1. He wants to put petrol engine instead of a ideal one which I have read and hreard is cheaper and better performing
2. I heard military green clor is. Not allowed
3. Where to get parts in Lahore which I will know what the jeep needs in few days time.

First of all congrats for being owner of mutt.
Brother keep it in orignal condition I mean engine and gear.
Secondly restoration is really difficult phase so first drive it for few days when you come to know that u still love jeeps and u have the potential of restoration then go for it.
parts are available with misbah ul alam and cyrus.they are active members too.
Rest if u need sone help u can contact me I am also restoring my mutt

Thanx. But can The old engine can be restored and workable ? everyone seems to be implying that put new engine

Brother I would suggest to keep it orignal.yes engine all parts are available.
It will cost u too much if u change engine.rest u have to decide yourself

Dear, I have been into a MUTT project for last 2 years or so, and still doing it.

I would suggest you to be patient, take a break and before you do anything to your MUTT, decide the followings:

1- What are you intentions, you want a daily runner, occasional offroader for hunting, or a Capable offroader to contest in some action 4WDs...????
2- Very imp, How much budget you are willing to invest? (building a Mutt is expensive)
3- What extras would you like to add on your MUTT?

Visualise and clear your mind, because its a time and money taking decision that you are going to make.
I got some pictures and videos of my MUTT offroading, so if you need any help regarding that, I should be of ample help to you.!
