My 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D & Sound System

Hi there guys; i'm a new member here. Name's Ali, I hail from Parachinar -- a village in Kurram Agency.

Currently in U.S. as I am pursuing MBA. I wanted to share some pics of my ride. It's a 1984 300D Mercedes (w123 chassis) with 5 speed gearbox; roughly 300,000 km on odometer

put in pioneer speakers, Mac audio woofers + tweeter, Alpine CD/MP3 player with Ipod & USB input, Kicker 15 inch subwoofer (1000 watts RMS, 2000 watts peak) system with Boss 4 farad capacitor (speakers powered by Alpine MRPF-300 watt amplifier/subwoofer powered by Kicker 1200.1 single channel 1200 watt amp), 4 gauge wiring and a sh*t load of dynamat (sound deadener) to keep the car from vibrating and making rattling noises. Also tinted the windows, which I've never in my life done before but I watched a video on youtube and kinda figured out the method; it turned out pretty clean and I'm happy with it.

I've already gotten noise complaints from neighbours; they said they heard me coming from far away and it vibrated their windows

still got work to do; but thought i'd share anyways

thanks friends; sorry for the crap camera quality....i need to invest in a proper digi cam, ideally an SLR.

nowdays im stuck with my LG GC900 8mp camera phone; the one with the scratched lens and various other flaws

will upload more pix/vid later on.

i've always loved the W123 and this is a great example of one, please post up more pics when you can as well as a little history of the car. BTW what are the specs? it looks like a 230 but i may be mistaken.

car is located in Washington DC area; technically i am in Maryland just on the border.....

It's been raining like crazy past couple days; tomorrow it will be nice. I'll take some pics after the car gets a bath

history is that it's had one previous owner; kept reasonably well, despite some small issues i had to deal with (mostly electrical and some cosmetic)

the car is a 1984 300D --european model; meaning the smaller european bumpers, metric instrument cluster, non-turbo 5 speed manual (versus the 4 speed automatic turbo in US spec models); and the square european H3/H4 halogen lamps vs. the American round headlamps

actually, i just hit 300,000 km on it yesterday....

the car will likely outlive me, and most of the gentlemen in this forum --like all diesel cars, all you really need to worry about is oil, filters and the occasional valve adjustment. Other than that, very little wear n tear

p.s. I miss Pakistan....a lot. Do we have any active or retired military guys here?

Hi guys.....sorry for the delay

a few new pictures; took them on Friday after a nice hand car wash.

since my last message here, I had a custom-made enclosure built. I was planning to go with a ported one, ended up doing sealed for now. This thing is ridiculously huge, the pictures are not as telling as they should be

i always knew that my previous enclosure was not built 100% to spec for the 15 inch Kicker L7 I have. But my God, it sounds like a different subwoofer altogether...i just gotta clean it up a bit in the trunk; bury some of the wires, etc.

this thing POUNDS..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will upload a video on youtube when time permits

well i usually stop playing music when i am about 500 meters approaching my house or leaving it

dont wanna **** anybody off.....first time my neighbour complained, he said him and his family were having dinner and their main door and some furnitures were vibrating from the noise

for everyday driving, i keep it on ''cruise mode'' --- negative 8 subwoofer level --which is still quite loud, but not 'obnoxious' loud
