My Alto is showing average 13.5 km/l

Dear all,

I have bought new Alto VXR 2022. The total KM run is 1200. I have done with one free service from Suzuki dealer.

I want to ask that in the city when I travel with traffic, the alto is giving me 13.5KM/L. Can anybody guide me why is it? as I came to know that its 18~20 KM/L AVG in the city.

Please help in this regards.

average will improve after 1st oil change at 5000 K use 0W20

no it does not give 18-20 in heavy city traffic in karachi.

you are reading from the meter or calculating manually from tankful to tankful?

Can you please also guide about the oil change. It would be changed on 5000 KM or should I run with the current oil from the deafult filled from dealer as it is 1200 KM now.

I read it from Meter. currently it is showing 13.5 KM/L from AVG option.

the meter is not accurate. you will need to keep driving the car. this average will increase gradually.

you can also reset this meter. do this when driving at a constant speed on open road. long press the meter button, to reset it to zero. it will start fresh reading.

average will increase or decrease based on your driving style / conditions.

more accurate measurement, is fill up the tank fully to the top of the filler neck.

drive around as you normally do.

after 300 kms, fill up your tank again to the top of filler neck. preferably use the exact same pump as well from where you filled earlier. note down how many liters go into the tank.

divide the 300 km by the number of liters to get a more accurate fuel average.

Bhai, for a zero meter vehicle, always get the engine oil & filter changed after 1000kms. Let the dealership say it's not necessary. Do it. Then regular maintenance will do. For my manual vehicles (cultus & santro) I also changed the gear oil in the first 10, 000 km.

Ok, but should i go to dealer for the engine oil changed and filter. I think they would cost. also, which oil should be used now. can you give better idea...

Yes. Do not trust lubes from outside apart from caltex oil shops company operated. Also oil change from outside will void warranty and in case of Alto That is VERY RISKY. I prefer 5 30 but dont go beyond that.

I have kept 4 of these cars, still have one in my household. Every Alto that I have kept, shows 17 kmpl on the screen. None of these cars, returned more than 15kmpl, that too very rarely. A good average with mixed driving is between 13-14.5ish kmpl.

Yep I did. 2008 VXRI Cultus. 2 guys I know didn't and their gearbox started whining after 20k. Might be manufacturing defect might be oil change issue, cant really say but I did it and sold it at 175k mileage with only one gear oil change at 95k. Anyways, with these local vehicles, better safe than sorry. For all my zero meter cars since 2006, have always changed oil at 1k kms

Its good and safe to change the oil in old cars but from now don't change the oil of zero meter car in 10k km range

Bro I meant after completing the first 1k kilometer mileage. Waisay its 3000kms or 6 months whichever comes first.

Hello everyone,

I'm a new driver and having a brand new Alto (2022 registration), driven 2300+ KM, Alhamdullilah no issues but want to know about the mileage, I'm having a 15.7KM mileage in winters (AC is mostly off) in the city area, I think it should be improved, can experts please help?

Tyers Pressure: 30 PSI on all 4s
Clutch setting was recently done, as in new car I find difficulty with the movement of the clutch.

Please advise me how to be more effective.
