I covered up the electrical components, eg Alternator etc. and began rinsing it.
After rinsing it once for twice, I started spraying APC on it liberally and almost soaked as much as possible.
Let it soak for a good 5 minutes and began to scrub it using the short brush with stiff bristles. Don't forget to rinse and spray the brush with APC solution as well to maximise its intensity.
I took some shots mid-way, while I washing the engine bay once.

While the condition improved, it was still unfinished business, and nowhere where I wanted it to be. So repeated the process one more time. Rinsing with water, spraying it with APC solution and finally some more scrubbing.
After second attempt, it was much better, so I started drying it using a dark colored and moistened micro fiber rag.
After uncovering the electrical parts, I wiped dust off them using a clean and moist micro fiber rag. A couple of wipes were enough to bring them up. One should be careful not to put liquid directly on the electrical parts. However, some spray over does not hurt either.

Much improved look!
While it was definitely an improvement, it was not what I had in my mind as end product. We had to take things one further step.
