Btw ever heard of oil change :). This infact was not even oil change but it was taken when I was installing fog lamps.

And if you look at the latest pictures fog lamps are missing
A biker broke left fog lamp glass and I removed both of them till I buy another one.

sideview mirror for 4k its not even auto :S

the handle (located inside) to control the sideview mirror is broken. any idea what the remedy and how much it will cost to get it repaired. abhi manually adjust karna parhta hai..

A friend of mine informed me that this is how insurance works. 10% for every year is deducted :).

Yeah 4000 is a lot but atleast it is available :).
Everything is repairable at magazine lane (plaza). The only problem is taking the car to plaza. Parking problem plus leaving car unattended there might cost more than the part you are buying or getting fixed.
If it can be taken off and fixed then you can take it there and someone might be able to repair it. There is a guy in japan plaza (plaza) who might guide you to any person since he deals in chev parts. His shop # is 32, lakhvi autos.

@op why dont you get the bumpers painted??

I once thought about it but the cost of getting bumpers painted is too much. These don't look that bad and it would be better if I use that money to change seat covers etc.
The traffic is so bad in Karachi that people keep scratching (hitting) bumpers (bikers usually) so the paint would come off and it will look more awful.

It is easier to keep these clean and shining small scratches are also unnoticeable.

I didn't know that. This was the first claim since 2005 when it was bought.

Maybe that is the reason people do not insure old cars.

Chevrolet at Makli Graveyard

I have taken it out of Karachi twice.
1) Karachi-Sanghar-Dadu-Sehwan-Karachi
I got a mileage of 18 km per litre. It could have been better but the road condition was soo poor that I had to drive at speed of 10-20 for more than 2 hours. This was during November floods. And many roads washed away. Alhamdolillah car did not give any trouble whatsoever throughout the journey. We travelled 885 KM in 1.5 days during that trip.

and i also thought of getting my chevy insured but i guess ill have to drop the plan. My model is of 2004, tou ill have to pay like 70% everytime i claim insurance for any damages

Well to be honest there has been no claim of insurance for theft of chevrolet exclusive from karachi (as told by efu). Its good that car thieves don't like Chevrolet joy or exclusive.

In case of some serious accident it is always good to have insurance since all denting painting etc are covered under insurance, you only pay for the parts depending on the model of your car like I have to pay 60% for 6 years old model. Like I am getting that removed and whole door will be sprayed. I wont be paying for this. I will only pay for the outer door handle and side mirror.

Sadly no updates on wind deflectors. I even tried looking on the internet but couldn't find any. If they are available and reasonably priced in UK I can get them delivered here.

I will get my car tomorrow Inshallah (gone for repair) and hopefully will be there at karachi meet-up on 17th with my car

Bad is news is that due to law and order situation I did not get my car today :(. I hope I will get it tomorrow otherwise it will go till Monday:'(

The value of premium depends on the amount insured.
It should not be higher since you wont get extra money and it should not be too less since you wont get decent amount of compensation. It should be near to actual market price of your car.

My car is insured with EFU for 325k and I am paying 12k per annum.

Do note that insurance claim should normally be made within 10 days otherwise insurance company can refuse to entertain it. (meaning that old accidents / dents etc wont be entertained).
