It's like the high tech features on a Samsung s4.they look good on paper, but soon you get annoyed with the eye reading feature, etc and just turn it off and never bother about it again.

Oh that's great. InshAllah you will have an excellent experience and won't regret your decision. The manual will be awesome to drive, I find the prosmatec slightly boring- it doesn't rev the vtech engine like the manual 7th gen we had used to.
Just be careful on the motorway. You never know what speed you're hitting. A slight acceleration and looking away from the speedometer briefly and the next thing you know, you're going at 160km/hr. That's the only advantage of the cruise control - to prevent fines on the motorway.
So u aren't missing anything. Even the navigation system isn't used in my fathers car anymore and we miss the traditional cd system - the screen is hard to look at in the sun and change radio stations.
The rear view camera helps at night during reversing. But that too is not necessary. Plus if you find the need you can always get a better aftermarket center screen installed with rear cam.
Just remember to get your tyres changed.
And mentioned by someone else, please share your experience here. We would all love to hear a detailed review of the manual civic.

u r totally right abt the rev, actually i've never had automatic car in my life but the moment i drove an oriel pros civic, i was a bit depressed abt the pick n all n decided to have a manual machine.
i really like the traditional cd sys n dont like navigation screen but having said that, back viewing is a very good gadget. i was really longing for the manual oriel verision because of (as u said) the cruise control, sun roof n the Aircon..
changing tyres n rims is also a priority.
btw, y dont u go for body kit. it looks really good as long as ones father isnt driving.

I usually don't drive it in the city but yesterday I took the civic on the roads on which I drive my 660cc JDM at 60 km/hr, whereas i was driving the civic at 130km/hr. After that I made sure I kept my eyes on the speedometer.
The 7th gen civic used to rev like crazy at high speeds. In this you hardly notice the speed.

Bro u r 100 percent right it is very difficult to control ur nerves on this car , after the salt range I touch 170 for 3 to 4 minz then come back to 107 n set the cruise and start talking to my gf via blue tooth as I Was alone

just one small thing thats been bugging me.....since your keeping it for a long time, why didn't you go for the full option car i.e leather interior?

we chose fabric for this very reason, the leather seats of PKDM's dont last very long.. after a few years they start sagging and develop cracks... fabric lasts longer - our 2002 7th civics (https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/vehicles-bikes/217572-fs-honda-civic-vti-oriel-model-2002-a) fabric seats were in perfect condition till 2013.
plus, i wouldnt want to sit on ice cold leather seats in winter and boiling hot seats in summer, unless they are temperature controlled...

Approach domestic manufacturers, propose writing for them for a nominal fee. They can get a summarised article writen by u printed in local sunday paper or mags. U can continue ur passion n earn a nominal amount as well. Maybe in next 5-7yrs, the manufacturers give u a newly launched car to keep for a while n write a review. The possibilities are endless, do ponder over it!

oh yes, that would nice.. I would be able to keep any car for 6 months , drive it any way I like to and then return it. But this is more possible in countries like UK and USA where there are so many competitors and the car companies have a "press car" to loan to car journalists to write reviews and give good comments.
However here, its either honda, toyota or suzuki and they wouldn't care- and their excuse will be something like " bhai sahab, puray pakistan mai 3 cars launch hotee hain after every 5-10 years, I'm sure someone in your family/friends will buy a new PKDM car after some time and you can drive it and write whatever you want to"

got my fathers car tuned and serviced today. It has done 19,100 kms... no issues as yet

got the oil, oil filter, air filter changed. the brake pads were serviced. the car underwent balancing and alignment too.

the a/c filter does not usually require replacement so early. However the cars a/c filter was extremely dirty even though we don't use fresh outside air- its always on recirculation .

I just love the protective rough metal on the undercarriage , it protects this area from scrapes from awfully designed speed bumps.
