My First Car in UK - Peugeot 206

It has test driven and that's the only check which was done. The AA quoted a price of 190 pounds to inspect the car so I did not get it done

The car still needs a once-over by a mechanic. Let's see what your local garage says about the car and what problem(s) it diagnoses, if any.

I remember going to school in Pug 309 gld back in 1990s it was awesome 309 are extinct, few 205 are still running in Pakistan.

206 is a very stylish hatchback of EU, I've seen one here in Islamabad, I'll upload the picture soon.

Got the car back. It had a issue with the relay of the wiring of the fan which cools the radiator.

First they thought that it was the radiator and they changed that - it didn't work out. Then they thought it was a head gasket issue - but it was not that either.

Then they found out that there was an issue with the fan.

Khair, they did not charge for any of that - that's very kind of them

They also did a thorough check of the car and changed the oil and oil filter. They say the rest is fine

total bill: 120 pounds, which isn't too bad to get a 14 year old car which has been sparingly used fully checked up and tuned

yes - I was quite worried about it. It was very silly of me to not get it checked thoroughly by a mechanic beforehand - I assumed the MOT clearance would be good enough

are you sure about the vat that works out at 100% whereas the vat in uk should be 20%
and the mot does not cover stuff like that

That is what the garage mechanic said - maybe he meant to say labor plus VAT.

120 is a really good price for full check over and the work they did as well most probably a mis understanding

You got good deal,hope your car won't give you anymore trouble. 206s are good runners and being French comes with loads of gadgets as standard which other car makers charge arm n leg.

Check from owner when fluids were last changed. If they have not been changed in last couple of years, then change all of them.

took the peugeot for a test drive in peak district - the drive has improved drastically.
It handles really well.

I have driven around 200 miles since I bought it. No problems at all after the heating up issue which has now been resolved.

drove from sheffield to slough today.

I left at 9 am and arrived in slough at 12:30 pm

The drive was not bad - i did not feel very tired and thanks to the trusty navigation system I did not get lost.

The tank was half full when I left home.

This is how much petrol I got to fill the tank

I left slough at 1:30 PM and got back at 5 PM

I am trying to figure out the mileage of the car.

According to this it should be 40mpg (Peugeot 206 (98-09) 1.4 LX 5d Auto (AC) - MPG, Dimensions & Performance | Parkers)

Got a "black box" from my insurance company

Young Driver, Safe Driver and First Time Driver Car Insurance

The only issue is that I have a ipod FM modulator which is directly connected to the cigarette lighter so I wont be able to connect this to it.

I will call up the bell insurance people and ask if they have a USB powered black box - or i could get a USB powered FM modulator
