My first car mehran (kindly help)

Dear friends i have bought 1998 mehran its my first car and i dont have much knowledge

The problem is my heat gauge is not moving.

I went to electrition to phir usne guage ko direct karke dekhaya to guage oth raha tha or usne kaha apka guage sahe h apki car long route per garam hogi

i tried to go on 20km distance but still guage doesnt move

I went to mechanic then he changed the temp sensor and said your gauge is fine then i went for arround 15km travel but again guage is not even moving a little

Also my Fan is direct not auto (thermostate valve is not present)

friends kindly guide me ? because i really want to keep an eye on if my car is heating up

I dont run car alot i only go in weekends for short trips but guage ko thora sa to move hona chaye its not moving a little

If your fan is direct and you also don't have thermostat installed then your car temperature will not reach to optimum level. And gauge will not show any rise specially in cold weather. Kindly install back thermostat valve and make the fan auto. Car temperature will rise and thermostat valve and fan action wouldn't let the temperature go beyond half level. If your car heats up then remove the fault instead of hiding the fault.

@naveedyu so in winter temp guage will not even rise a little ? not even a little moment? because mine is like dead and constant even at before C mark

Yes in winters in short runs it will never rise. Car will consume more fuel and less efficient so better to install thermostat and fan auto. It will improve car performance. Don't listen to local ustads they will miss guide you.

Fist check for any leakage, use coolant and flush radiator.

you dnt have auto fan, no Tvalve and expecting your gauge works properly? If the mechanic or electrician change the temp sensor or temp switch with desi one. you cnt really raly on them. coz thy mostly dont work with the correct temp. so chill if you want to drive your car with a direct fan.

I want to know how much KM should a car run to rise up the guage atleast a little when you have direct fan and no Thermostate valve

Start the car, dont drive just let the engine idle. Once the engine is too hot to touch check temp guage position. It must be above C. If it isnt go to some reliable mech and tell him to diagnose. Later, if you feel like, put the fan on auto atleast.

If you really want to check if the gauge and sensor is working unplug the Fan connectors and start the car if after a couple of minutes lets us 10min in today's weather the gauge starts to rise then your sensor and gauge is ohk and everything is normal... Remember to plug the fan back in again...

I never have seen my car rising a little the temp nedle with a direct fan dude. once i was driving with direct fan in the early morning. temp outside was i guess -1 my temp needle for approx 30km didnt show any change, on light foot. but as soon as i start rev the teo needle started rising. i dont hve a tvalue but i wil install it back soon.And i drive like crazy sometimes, like i change second to third gear at approx 60kmph on cng.

When i had direct fan on my mehran....the needle always rise like it should after some time .... but it wud rise till C start line only.

I wud suggest OP to follow what Omer bhai said above...just to check if gauge is wrking

And then make the fan auto and put thermostat

Hi guys , so i checked my guage after asking mechanic to turn of fan connection and then i saw temp guage is rising and working fine

now my question is what is the cost to install thermostat valve and auto fan with switch for summer direct and winter auto

also i want to know that is it safe and easy job to do? shall i do this in my car or keep it direct?

because mechanic said that for old car direct is suitable

it is a 98 Mehran most probably i has had a couple of head gaskets changed and the cylinder block and Head may still have heat distortion due to not being faced properly. keep it the way it is...although i am not an advocate of this.

the cost of installing T valve and making fan auto is minimal.

First of all change all the rubber pipes for the radiator.

As u have bought an old car and bigger fan is already installed, dont get into the hassle of making it auto. do one thing, install T valve only. its will cost around 700 to 800 approx. install it and its an easy job.

With the T valve installed, the temp will rise according to the working of it. check it for few days with longer runs because now a days karachi weather is colder. i guess the needle will go between c and half mark. if u car behaves normal then go for auto fan by installing thermo switch,

make sure ur car radiator is rust free and you are using coolant. if not using coolant, do the T valve experiment and then replace water with coolant (buy coolant from PS and dont for any local guard, osaka and other cheap coolants).
