Is your 4x4 lights blinking? If yes that the issue get the switch changed which doesn't cost much and it is located before steering fluid bottle on right fender

This link will work using a VPN like hotspot. It is mostly electrical issue. There are some solenoids and electrical switches which are the culprit. If you are lucky, it will just be a disconnected wire or a vacuum pipe. If the SS 4WD is in too much mess, I would recommend switching to manual locking hubs.
