Belated Congratulations on a very nice ride brother. MaSha Allah, it seems to be in a very good condition. Its a rarity to see a Pajero of this shape without broken louvres on A/C vents
Though descriptive answers have already been given about preference of a Pajero over a Disco, I will just add a lines from my experience with both.
Have kept two Discos (95 & 97) primarily the same thing. 3.9l V8 FXi. Even in healthy economy of UAE, the fuel consumption was something that made itself felt. But the comfort & pockets all over the place kept me clinging to it for a few years. Parts, fuel & expertise were all affordable like any other 4x4.
In Pakistan, though, the scene is totally different. Petrol Rovers are very thirsty when we compare them with equivalent German or Japanese 4x4s of similar years of manufacture.
Two major drawbacks of Rovers is their vacuum system and electricals. Mechanically they are awesome. Scarcity of spare parts around the country (except few specific shops), and being very expensive (when & if available) as compared to Japanese brands, lack of expert technical support (not the roadside workshops that do hit & trials) and almost no resale makes this excellent & capable off-road machine a nightmare to have, run & maintain.
The package you have is one of the best thing this money can have. The great fuel efficiency (if not the best) in any 5 door 4x4 with a 2.5L engine. I have repeatedly noted 12km/l on my Pajero with same engine on long stretches.
Very simple engine to maintain and less things to go wrong being non electronic etc.
Its more graceful than the said Disco. Discos look good if fully loaded with all the bells and whistles attached to them from front factory bumper, side mouldings and lots of other small stuff.
All the best.
