I agree the sidewalls were soft on these tyres, but that is also because they were NOT designed with pakistani roads in mind. i've been uing A539s on one of my VWs and as it is much lighter the sidewalls don't work so hard.
Another point is that everyone is quick to point out that the tyres failed without REALLY knowing what happened. isn't it possible that he hit a pothole, or that the tyres were so old that the sidewalls failed. People forget that tyres have a life and asking them to keep working past their life is insanity. Do we know the speed ratings of those tyres? were they good for speeds in excess of 140kms/h at those operating temperatures under those loads? I urge everyone to think twice before jumping to conclusions,.. specially when it comes to cars in PK as we all know how some of them are driven and maintained.
All is never what it seems. as the expression "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is true,.. the same applies to cars. 99.9999% of the time it is the operator who is at fault not the machinery.
