If i told you( re: the wooh) i'd run the risk of being banned, wouldn't i?.!.:d . I'm showing it as i saw it.This is a roadtrip, not an auto show. And, whaddya expect on the streets, Sunday morning?. Folks don't wake up till noon. Infact, there's an entire group of folks from all over the world who live in the international township of Auroville located in the territory of pondicherry and many of them have imported their exotics and antiques here. Most of them can be seen by appointment(the antiques) and the exotics are driven mostly on sunday evenings , we were told. I saw a few pics of some, including a rare Lambo Miura.

It looks peaceful, mostly clean with some great beaches. And apart from that one traffic pic, it looks surprisingly uncrowded.

Any Pakwheeler visited India lately from Pakistan? I think a road trip to India would be awesome. (H)

Pondicherry is a neat place. Though it is an Union territory of India, the French still have a huge influence. There are thousands of French citizens living there or have vacation homes and other moneyed Europeans too, at the swank international city of Auroville. The French consulate for this region is in Pondicherry to make a statement and the region has a seat in the French parliament even today and Indian citizens of Pondicherry can easily emigrate to France. There's large numbers of them there. All this translates to an European feel to the place. Cafes, street markets, cleanliness, eclectic eating places, cheap booze, hi-tech industries(biotech/pharma) and artistic sensibility are all by products of this influence.

Here are three pics taken by one of my fellow motorclub friends at Pondicherry. He captured the feel of the place. What was i looking at?.

Back to my crappy pics.

Driving out of Pondicherry to visit a motorclub member from the region, who is an avid motor enthusiast. The guy owns a bus company and we visited his workshop and home where he keeps fiddling with this toys. It was a great experience and whether you think his mods look hideous or otherwise, i appreciate his creativity and his guts to express himself, regardless of what others think or say.

All good things must come to an end, i guess. It has been a blast and more. I do not look forward to riding the ny subway and scrunching it to work. I guess i have to.

Arriving at the guys yard, spotted a 1984 Force Tempo, one of the original cars made in collaboration with Mercedes. This car is the Indian version of the G-Wagon and it has been modernized and upgraded over the years, just like the G. This one is the original.

Before i let you go for now, one more pic from one of my motorclub friends. While i was sitting and clicking a crappy pic(on page1) in the front passenger seat of the Accent, this guy took a shot of us driving into Pondicherry from the car he was trailing us in. Nice clarity.

that's sad nick.. but do stick around here although you go to NY. We rely on you to bring us the latest Indian auto scene news. That keeps some flavour to this forum, rather than all Pakistani stuff. That extra spice would dissapear without you (and your topics). Hence, please stick around. If not for roadtrips, at least update us on the auto scene in India.
