My Latest Commuter Car!

This is my old Wagon R which i exchanged for new Ignis at my Maruti store. Car cost me 5.95 lacs new and i was offered 4.55 lacs in exchange value towards 2024 Ignis. I accepted the offer and set the ball rolling with a balance payment of 3.12 lacs to get the new car. i insisted on getting a 2024 manufacture car so i had to wait almost three weeks after final payment.

I was really sad to see the Wagon R go. This car also has a 1.2 liter engine but is a 3 cylinder and the taxi vibe just wasn't happening for me even for a commuter car.

So. After all formalities were completed we picked up the car last tuesday. I will post showroom pics once my Mrs and her iphone return back from out of town but i took pics today morning with my old trusted point and shoot camera and as always the weather was damp and gloomy so not happy with the pics i took. Anyways , without much ado,

here's my 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Ignis Zeta MT in the flesh...

some of the extra i got in this car are wind deflectors, carbon fibre trim rear air dam, side cladding, reverse camera in rear view mirror and floor mats with Ignis logo.

this is a design one has to get used to but the drive and quality fittings make it up

the interior has been done just right. quality and easy access to everything in there

the heart of this car the 4 cylinder 1.2 liter engine that is a pleasure to drive

the infotainment /navgation screen is standard Suzuki india issue and is good. the bonus is the JBL coaxial four speakers , good sound.

wish me luck with my car and there are many more features that i will highlight and share as i go along.

is manual cars are common there ?
actually here we also have lots and lots of manual cars. But in last few years, the trends are more inclined towards auto one. Especially since the JDM vehicles started import in PK in abundance (like 2 decades ago), then people start liking the auto cars here. Otherwise majority was still happily driving manuals.

The Ignis engine is listed as 1.2 liter VVT 4-cylinder petrol engine.

The pak market previous generation Swift is equipped with a 1.2 liter 4-cylinder K12M engine.

The new Swift in our market has the all new 1.2 liter Z12E 3-cylinder engine, same also for japan market.

These engines are made by FIAT India (Stellantis Group) for Suzuki worldwide.

is manual cars are common there ?

The Ignis is available with AGS transmission for INR 45,000/- extra. I prefer manual shift in small cars especially Suzuki. Every car manufacturer in India offers auto transmission (AMT,AGS,DSG,CVT) from 5lac Alto to luxury cars. Most liked in India is VW 's DSG transmission available in Virtus sedan.

I haven't driven at those speeds yet. I'm still breaking the engine in. The Ignis is made in India for Europe, India and South-East Asian markets.

Uptill few years back, we had hundreds of cars at roads.
And now we have thousands of them and increasing.
That’s why manual transmission usually hurt knee & foreleg muscles. Hence in the stop & go traffic in all major cities, still auto transmission cars are relatively convenient to drive. That’s why I asked.

I agree, and that is why this AMT model of Suzuki India in video below is selling well mainly in urban areas. I did consider this car as it is a mini tall boy and comes under 6 lacs on-road with auto transmission. But one test drive of the Ignis and my decision was made.

Good reviews & observation
Apart from all features, the fuel average as 25 km/l is absolutely something which everyone would like to wish for.

Here PK version of Suzuki 660cc alto also gives more or less same fuel average. And very few people will agree that Suzuki engines are very robust too.
I’ve seen wagonR engine 500K km driven but still working like new.

but the video you posted above, doesn't has the FOG lights on the front bumpers.
But this picture has fog lights. Isn't not the same car

This feature is very common in American trucks, trailers, and load carrying vehicles like UPS/DHL delivery vans, ambulances, etc.
Its good feature indeed
