@Xulfiqar quick question, I'm on the lookout for an adhesive. One to use with the hood pad. Just wondering if the 3M spray adhesives will be good enough or to go with the yellow liquid bond that comes in a can? 3M has a few different spray adhesives so what would be the best solution?
I also finally go around to swapping the remaining suspension and brake parts.
1) Swapped the front Damper struts + bumb stop + protective sleeve. The old damper struts had some hidden cracks on the underside, and one of them even had a crack on the top section. The old bump stops were destroyed and so were the protective sleeves.
2) New rear spring rubber mounts
3) New rear track rods. Decided to use the original eccentric bolts after marking them and simply swapping the new washer + hex bolts. The new eccentric bolts had a different head and I decided to stay with the original
4) Both engine mounts had been previously swapped with genuine MB mounts. I bought a No 6 & 8 hex key for the job. Parked the car on the ramp. lifter the front ends and put the car on jackstands. Next, I removed the engine fan housing so the fan wouldn't scratch it as the engine was lifted, removed the two lower bolts holding the engine shock to the frame and then the two hex screws holding the engine mountings to the engine. I slowly lifted the engine by using a large piece of wood between the ramps, a jack and a piece of soft wood under the oil pan. Once the engine clears the mounts, just go in with a 90* hex 6 key and undo the bolts. I found it easier doing this while being under the car. Installation is the opposite.
5) Next, swapped all the brake roters and pads with the Brembo kit
The rotors have an indentation indicating the depth of the rotor for a quick way to know your rotors health
Used the ATE brake paste on the back and edges of the brake pads before putting them back in
6) New 85W90 MB Hypoid oil for the rear differential. I simply took a 500ml liquid soap bottle with a pump spray, attached a longer tubing and was ready. After removing the top hex bolt, I drained the old oil from the lower drain hole for almost 15 minutes. Once completely empty, I then proceeded to fill the diff from the top hole until the oil reached the thread markings. It takes about 700-800ml if I remember correctly.
7) My only delay was the transmission mount. I ordered the wrong part and now have to wait until the new one arrives.
I finally swapped the air filter, torqued everything to spec ( used threadlock on the required bolts/screws ), put back both the lower protective shields and VOLA. I've now ordered new Bilstein B4 comfort shocks for the car which I will bring with me back to Pakistan in January IA
