Paksuzuki Wagon R Maintainence Thread

Alhamdullilah, I have brought a 2015 Paksuzuki Wagon R from Paksuzuki Used Car Gala today. Below is the picture of the car:

The reason for buying this car was I wanted a hatchback that was powerful, economical, and low on maintainence costs (most important). After my various encounters with rude, lying, cheating dealers for a decent Vitz/Passo, I decided that I am going to buy a PKDM Wagon R in nice condition. This was a nice,stock, low mileage car in Excellent condition throughout.

Therefore, I would like your opinions on the following things:
1. What brand and viscosity of Oil is recommended?
2. What brand of coolant is recommended for the cooling system?
3. Should I get my car waxed/coated to preserve the paint and shine?
4. Any idea what the long term costs of owning the car are?
5. What is your long term experience with this car?

brand and viscosity of Oil is recommended?

I think, 5w-30, API SN / SN Plus, Fully Synthetic engine oil from some reputed brand would serve the purpose well. For best for bucks, you may go for Total Quartz 9000 Future series, and change oil along with genuine, OEM Oil Filter after every 5,000 Kms.

ZIC, Caltex or any reputed brand would serve the purpose well.

Should I get my car waxed/coated to preserve the paint and shine?

Well, if I have to go for; I may not go for detailing, etc. (unless / otherwise it is absolutely necessary), however, car wash and wax on regular basis with interior cleaning would be best in the long run, in my humble opinion.

If you want, you can go for coating, etc. There is no harm in it, however, you will then have to maintain it, otherwise, paint will get more effected if not maintained properly.

MashaAllah and congratulations! Drive safely and enjoy. I would recommend to change the engine oil and filter along with air filter. Top up brake and clutch oil and check performance of A/C. Get car washed and polished. And get some cloth seat covers & steering well cover (who knows who the previous owner was ) After that you should be good to go!

Firstly always maintain a proper maintenance record since this is almost new it is rather good to have that.

Start with: changing all the fluids and the checking all the belts and mount you then know for sure before driving what are the conditions.

I guess recommend grade of oil is 5w30. But better to check under the hood cause suzuki usually does put up a sticker to guide about the oil. I have always used caltex coolants and they have served their purpose. Even in the recently purchased Passo I went for the caltex coolant.

Never wash the engine bay with a pressure washer since these are electronic cars not like my lanecr or your Cuore, engine can be detailed though there are various products available...

Just the regular wash and a good quality wax is the best and the cheapest. I would recommend collonite 845 sealant wax. I am myself trying to get a hold on it myself.

Don't let electrician do any jugad on it. Drive safe best of luck.

Congratulations Allah pak naseeb kare..use 5w-30 total quartz fully synthetic along with genuine oil and air filter..check disc pad if its weak then change.. And use Suzuki coolant its of 460 1litte.

Thanks alot everyone for the amazing well wishes and support. 5W-30 is the absolute consensus here and I will check the engine bay/manual too.
All fluids will be checked, and engine oil will be replaced. The car will get a good wash and then I will polish it myself with gentle hands. The seat covers will be of good quality cloth (cloth doesn't warm up; excellent experience in my auto cuore). I also plan on installing 5D fitted floor mats whichever keep the floor protected from moisture and dirt.

Yes I paid premium for this color (which I liked over all others). I checked all engine mounts and belts when buying this. I made sure this was running on Coolant (others were on water!) Then I inspected the underside for rust or gunk, I check the ignition system, and checked for idle vibration. When I was 100% satisfied, only then I bought this. One of my frustrations with Cuore was that so much damage was already done my previous owners that it was hard to maintain it. Inshallah this vehicle will be under our radar from early in it's life cycle.
This is our first Efi car. I will definitely keep these things in mind. First three inspections are free from Paksuzuki, then also I will maintain it from 3S for the forthcoming couple of years (at least) and Inshallah maintain the proper schedule here!

they proudly claim CERTIFIED BY SUZUKI ENGINEERS, then I see water in the cooling system of Suzuki Certified car.....

Paksuzuki certification is a bunch of crap. They said gaari ke saarey scratches marked hain paper per, I said shayad aapke expert engineer ki nazar se aik scratch choot gaya (I felt the body of the car with cotton gloves) I was also baffled to see almost all cars there on water. Pakwheels carsure is wayy better.
But then, I bought this car because I was tired of dealers. They buy totalled cars, fix them up, and charge premiums over market price. Then their dickish attitude is unbearable at times. I almost bought an 08 vitz in 'bumper to bumper' genuine Condition, only to realize when driving the car it shakes badly. Passo also wasn't available in a good condition.
I soon realized that I won't get a decent japanese car (I was also dissappointed when I was buying cuore auto).
Kher, today I talked to a University fellow and he said gaari bohot rough and tough hai, no major works in 4 years for him. My car will be delivered tomorrow.

Second hand cars are usually shady. Mostly the owner has experienced some failure and is now trying to get rid of the car. Rarely is someone selling a car because they need the money or upgrading to another model. So when buying a used car be ready for anything.

You are right. good cars these are very difficult to find specially in the Japanese import category. some of them are in really good nick but the papers are not ohk. if the papers are complete the cars arent good. Majority of the people lying when selling cars. it took me a month and a half to find a good car. saw and test drove atleast a Hundred

Got our Wagon R from Suzuki SNA Motors 7S dealership at 44,051 km.

First of all, let me say that Paksuzuki Certified Used Car is a bunch of crap. When I took the car away from the dealership, we found that the exhaust rubber was missing and it was rattling with the body. By then we were already too far from the dealership so I just went to an exhaust 'specialist' in my area. He, seeing a kid driving a shiny car, said that in addition to rubber, the exhaust needed 'setting'.
I said if you want to install rubber then fine, otherwise I will go to the dealership to get this 'setting' done or it will void the warranty. Seeing his potenital money go, he settled on installing the rubber and it was a successful job.

After that, I underpaid him for his service and went away.
Rubber: Rs.55
Labor: Rs.100

So I underestimated the ease with which we can drive a manual car. Both my father and I had difficulty in driving the car (not pressing clutch, engine stall on speed breakers due to third gear, etc). I hope we get eased into the car soon!

Then, I went to the supplies store and bought myself the following items:
1. Microfiber Hand Glove - Rs.150

2. Cosmic Car Wax - Rs.500

3. Pack of 6 After Wax towels

(WAXING THE CAR)
I have always wanted, from the very early years of my life, to drive a car that was as shiny as a brand new car and Alhamdullilah it is a wonderful experience. Traveling in beater cars for the majority of my teenage life (our zero meter cultus was shiny though - 13 years ago) it is something I am truly cherishing. Oh, and the wonderful feeling that you get after shining your car with wax and seeing immediate results - its amazing.

Precautions:
1) i changed into a jumpsuit and made sure I wasn't wearing anything of metal or plastic that could scratch the car.
2) i removed my watch and belt.
3) My glasses were enough for eye protection from dust.
4) I covered my mouth and nose with a mask.
5) I covered my ears with ear insulators.

Steps:
1) Given that the car was washed up good from the dealership, I skipped the washing part because it's no use to wash a squeaky clean car.
2) I used the microfiber cloth to wipe out all the dust on the body of my car. I felt around every nook and cranny to get dust particles out.
3) I repeated step two just in case any dirt got left behind.
4) i unpacked the car wax, got a tiny amount on the sponge, and started from the bonnet in circular motions.
5) I left the wax to dry up and look like 'wax' on car for 5 minutes.
6) Then I got the cotton waxing towel out and started gently rubbing it over the wax in circular motions.
7) i repeated steps 1-6 on all panels of car in the following order: bonnet, roof, right side, left side, rear, right fender, left fender.
8) DAMN. The car really started shining. I'll post pictures soon because this job took all my evening and night and I just got free right now.
