My new purchase -- Nikon d5100!

With 18-55; 600D is 82k
MBM; the local distributor gets the stuff from Canon Singapore, I checked the Canon Singapore site and 600D comes in three kits, 18-55, 18-135 and (if I am remembering right) 18-200. So yes; this is its plus point that you can get the boxed 600D /w 18-135

Comntrix (if I am remembering right) is Nikon distributor in Pakistan and they offer boxed D5100 with only 18-55. One can get body with other lenses but there are chances that you might get a used product as "new", D5100 is new product so no chance of such hanky panky with it...but there can be question mark on the lens

if the difference between the 600d and 550d is much higher, then i suggest get 550d. they both use the same sensor and have the exact result. only that 600d has a rotating screen.
i brought my 550d for 600 pounds. and the price for 600d was 100 pounds more... which is like rs.13,800 ... so i decided to save tht for upcoming lens.

@Smart: Why did'nt go for a canon D500 or others in Canon ?

I observe Canon is better in all day click -- morning, noon, evening --- whats so good in Nikon ? Price/Setting/Name/Life

dad has a nikon d7000 , and keith (cousin) has a nikon as well ..... he recommended me nikon so i brought d3100..... but now ended up getting canon 550d.....
overall i think both are good cameras........

bro as that model had become old, while buying camera i had 2 options canon eos550d and nikon d5100, after research on internet between the both and by asking pros i decided for nikon as this was better, easy to use, i built camer effects, newer model, little bigger sensor, rotating screen and some other major specs...its almost as good as 550d but in some places it may overtake the canon, if i had more money i would have got the canon eos600d which is even better then both the nikon and it's predecessor..........

i think u didnt research properly or ask the right people.... if u say the d5100 is better then 550d , then u are saying that it is better then 600d as well because 550d and 600d both are the same cameras ......

see this video or any other video, they all will say the same... 550d and 600d are the same except for the rotating screen......
but overall, nice purchase d5100 is very nice looking

bro i got for 67k camera + lens..and paid extra 3.5k for memory card and filter.....
eos600d is around 82-85k ( body + kit lens)....

@Kamran Canon 600D is quoted for 95k /w 18-135 lens by Billu Fotos...I am myself inclining towards it..Its little bit expensive..but I guess its worth it. I just need to confirm that it comes with this lens in a box from some Canon distributor...want to avoid purchasing opened box

Agreed. D5100 is a v nice DSLR and I plan on buying one myself provided my finances improve in the coming months

i went to currys and took the demo for sony ***..... its really some camera!!!
everyone planning to buy a camera should check this out.... the new translucent mirror is the new dslr technology....
it gives u 10 fps (600d is under 4fps) and it gives a proper Auto focus on video mode...

do check it out... i was impressed..

Ali Bhai bought a nice camera and I think we all need to concentrate on congratulating him. He researched the market and found that D5100 suited his needs and matched his budget.

I feel it is not really right to compare with other brands and models. I am sure about the fact that there is no "perfect" camera in the world including Leica S2 ...

MashaAllah, he has purchased a wonderful camera, and we should be demanding to see his creativity with the new machine. Right?

sirs i had the oppty of using 550D and i find it a good camera , and i also had the oppty of using Panasonic GF1 and GF2 best small SLRs. My 600D arrives tomorrow lets see how it goes.

i always use snapsort.com for getting the right information.

my next purchases depending on money i can spare would be EOS 60D or D7000 with lens.
