My ooty road trip

Continuing with my last segment, "Getting there"....

we departed madras late evening so managed only a few pics as my Samsung cam ain't too god at night shots.Moreover, 100 km outside of Madras there were heavy downpours so couldn't take night shots!.....a few pics of the highway system....

spotted a large number of big trailer trucks on the Natl. Hwy. system, which is indicative of a nation's economic health!...i was impressed!...

a pic of NH-47S (Natl. Hwy) from Madras to the town of Trichy....leading ofcourse to NH-17W to the textile city of Coimbatore, off which we took TN Country road 34/1 leading to the "Nilgiris"(Blue Mountains) where the town of Ooty is located....

Early Saturday morning 545am, we find ourselves at a rest stop off NH-17W....some pics of the rest stop area...see how grimy the buses are from the rain that poured the entire night.....

...rest stop...there was an IndianOil gas station in premises...open 24 hours..we had to wait a bit before the restaurant opened for business!!...luckily there was a convenience store behind the restaurant that had a coffee and tea dispensing machine!...and they sold ciggies!...dat enuff for me!....

i took a brisk walk and enjoyed the early morning breeze!....June is not the tourism season here actually, so not many vehicles present, but the truck section was full!....lots of commercial activity going on in India nowadays....

before heading off on the TN country road we did a short drive on TN state highway 287...a pic

an hour later with bright sunshine we set off for the Blue Mountains on TN country road to Ooty..some pics...all these pics were taken from a moving bus, so clarity might not be all that good!...my many thanks to the driver who allowed me to sit there and annoy him , taking photos and yapping away with the guide!....

we passed through small villages and i had a glimpse of rural life in this part of the world....this could have been a nice phot, except it was me pullling the trigger on my cam!!..
