My ooty road trip

"hairpin" bends and steep curves kept me queasy throughout the ride!....

the scenery is breathtaking!..continuing with my Ooty trip, "Getting there" segment!....

my first glimpse of the Nilgiris valley and life as we know it in this part of the world....a world unto itself, i say!!...

drove through the other prominent towns in the area.....this one is named "Coonoor"....lotsa road damage due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall....June thru August is the rain season in this area.....

at the Tamil Nadu state Tourism run motel.....

the tour package cost us Rs1750.00 per person double occupancy which included transport, 3 meals, entrance to all places of interest, guided tour of Ooty, tour guide present at all times and accomodation.I spent about Rs500 extra for entertainment and this is a great service provided by the state Govt. to the citizens of this state and tourists from all over India.All states in India offer similar tourism facilities so that Indians can travel around India at affordable prices!.....Bang up job, i say!.....

The return trip was an all night affair again and i was too tired to take photos, even though the weather was clear.I did take a few pics of Madras city early in the morning and i'll post a few as i wrap up my Ooty trip photo diary!.....

Returning by mid-July!.I'm planning a few trips to Goa and Rajasthan with family(planning their arrival here now) as i'm almost done with my assignment here in Madras!.Thanx for asking!.

I left out a couple of pics....we stopped at a rest stop outside this amusement/theme park at the foothills of the Nilgiris mountains and was disappointed that we couldn't get in there and experience the rides....i was speaking to folks coming out after spending a day there and was told some of the rides equal the ones in Disneyworld!!!....especially the roller coaster rides!...Dang!...would have been great if this park was included in the tour!...

u must have been wondering that where is talha lolzzzzzz........actually i m busy from 7 to 10 and rest of the time is spent in sleeping....its after about 5 days that i've logged onto PW

nice trip. excellent botanical gardens. have been to same type of botanical gardens in kandy and nuwereliya (sri lanka)

just cant imagine that the cost is too low.....govt is doing a good job in promoting local tourism...thumbs up for state governments

Good to "hear" from you again!.The cost of the trip is extremely low price and it's gotta be subsidized.That's what Govts. are there for!.I chose this tour on recommendation as this is the only way i can get to 'really' see the place!.Air or train is faster and more convenient , but all i would have seen is Ooty.Traveling by bus, i was able to see in depth how this part of India lives, along the way there!.And , the facilities provided are good!.What keeps you so busy?.Research work?.
