I have done one previously I think; the D7K gave very good results compared to the D3X.

The DoF is so sharp at f/3.5 that only the very center of the flower is in focus, and the petals that come towards the camera are not, as well as the background. At that aperture, if I focus the petals, then the center of the flower will be blurred.

The lesson is that the DoF should be selected with attention to the subject; sometimes too sharp is not good either.

That part in red is a good point.

What also needs to be understood is that shallow DoF is not all you need. Its not about the amount of bokeh, but the quality of it.

My s95 produces very shallow depth of field in closeups at f/2.0, however the quality of that bokeh is absolutely, excuse the french, $hit. The 58mm 1.2 Minolta and 50mm 1.4 Canon FD I am using on my m43 produce awesome smooth bokeh, despite being almost 35 years old.

very right, more is not always right the shallower the DoF will be the less thing will be in focus, we should think before shooting

Can you please tell which lens is best all rounder with D7k mean don't have to change lens for zoom or portraits.

I am very satisfied with the Sigma 18-200 as an all round carry about lens for the D7K that offers good performance and great value.
