That part in red is a good point.
What also needs to be understood is that shallow DoF is not all you need. Its not about the amount of bokeh, but the quality of it.
My s95 produces very shallow depth of field in closeups at f/2.0, however the quality of that bokeh is absolutely, excuse the french, $hit. The 58mm 1.2 Minolta and 50mm 1.4 Canon FD I am using on my m43 produce awesome smooth bokeh, despite being almost 35 years old.
