My PTCL dsl connection :(

I've been using PTCL DSL for 6 months. Initially i was VERY happy to have such a connection:) but after 2 months or so i was in trouble. I got SHIRO modem router which usually get stuck , mostly it says "DSL line is disconnected" i call ptcl guys but unsastifactory results i faced.

I'm using windows 7 64bit mind u

I'm having slow speed via torrents of abt 30-60 kbps, haven't talked to ptcl yet abt this issue

most of the times when ever i pick up the phone dsl light starts blinking this happens but not always.

i called regarding this issue they said replace yr splitter :S

I got 1mb student pakage and got these problems , but most annoying are the torrent speed and the disconnection after 20-30 mins of working.

hmmm...........same story here!!!

i first subscribe to PTCL in 2007.......they provided me a ZTE Modem......used it for like 7 months.........WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM........i always recommended it to my friends!!!!

but then i switched to Wateen but the downloading limit made me go back to PTCL.........so this time they provided me a Shiro modem.............and my God, what a POS it was :@ always restarting due to voltage fluctuation........always getting hot.........literally had to shove it in the freezer to cool it down,,,,,,,,,,,,so after numerous calls they exchanged it with a ZTE Modem.........so things are going fine now but still they dont provide the same reliable connection that they did way back in 07...!!!

So my advice, get rid of the Shiro modem ASAP!!!

Get the wireless connection. Believe me, mobility is such a blessing!!!!!!!

bango mate how is the speed of wireless PTCL USB ? and wht is the downloading speed ur getting ? monthly charges seems reasonable

well i am using PTCL DSL since 6 months...its working great on shiro modem. Yes it heats up and stops working so for that i have placed it upside down so no problem anymore... if you have any issues never call ptcl guys... directly visit your ptcl exchange and ask for DSL officer there...

Avoid the shiro modem, a friend also had the same problems but he now got a zte modem and no problems at all
