My Review of PTCL EVO 3G NITRO

Hi guys,

Today I had the opportunity to test the much advertised new PTCL EVO 3G NITRO and I simply have one word for it ...

"PATHETIC"

I have absolutely no idea what the PTCL guys were thinking. They must have spent millions of Rupees advertising this piece of crap that does not even perform to 10% of what they claim!

Quoting from the PTCL website,

"EVO 3G Nitro is Pakistan’s fastest wireless broadband solution based on the most advanced CDMA 3G Rev.B technology to provide amazing data rates of up to 9.3Mbps on downlink and up to 5.4 Mbps on Uplink."

Today I have tested this device in three different sectors of Islamabad at different times and the result was more or less the same every time. The download speed varied from 0.1 Mb/s to 0.8 Mb/s from all locations.

Unfortunately, this so called "cutting edge product" only brings shame to PTCL as far as I am concerned. I have no personal fight with PTCL, in fact I think it is doing great overall as a company. But why they do false marketing or not test their products thoroughly is beyond me...

Try testing it at some other place in the city.

my experience with the Ptcl EVO was quite similar too. (i didn't tested it in different sectors)

a wireless connection can never beat a wired connection. its just guzara..

its a crap only.ptcl 1mb is better than this .all the time i get 120 kpbs wether its rain,night and day.

yr my friend also bought ptcl evo when it was initially launched and the same problem was there ....sometimes signal drop and very slow speed but after sometime it went up n up ....speed is now awesome...the place where u live matters.....the farther away from the closest booster ...the weaker the signal and less speed ....neways as said by most of the people that wireless is GUZARA its true cuz we never get a stable speed on wireless connection ...it fluctuates every second alot...its better to get WIRED 4mb

my friend i have used it in f 10 2 and i have got till 9.1 mpbs download speed it depends on how close you are to the booster

EVO simple was with 3 MB (i m using it and sick of it)
EVO NITRO is with 9MB
but both are with shared bandwidth not with a static IP.
thats the difference...

I have 45Mbps circuit in USA, and speedtest.net tell it 1Mbps only so this site is some time busted itself, i would recommend, download some software from different websites, do some torrent download, use some download accelerator software, and see if you still get the same speed.

we know EVO is bad, but lets hope this time NITRO is good, and speedtest was wrong hum sab umeed se hai

Also Maximum download you can get is
Average data rates vary between 1.25 Mbps- 3.75 Mbps

its quoted from PTCL website, so you will get 1.25 only at max:D

9Mbps is connectivity speed, that has no benefit in downloading, and just an integer to attract customer

To all the people who are saying to test it at other locations,

1) As I said before I tested it in three different sectors of Islamabad and it gave almost the same results.

2) But more importantly, whats the point of testing it elsewhere if it doesn't work where I want to use it???
