My Suzuki Kei 2004 is not going up to 80KM...very slow acceleration

Hi,

I have recently bought 2004 japan import suzuki kei 660CC EFI. Everything was fine but acceleration is dead slow. First 3 gears don't make much impact on speed only 4th and fifth gears work little better and after 5 minutes of constant acceleration suv reached at 90KM somehow.

Please any advice as this is my first car and I have no experience. Previous owner told me clearly that engine is weak and I can swap assembly in somewhere between 20 to 25K as spare parts are cheap for this car but before going to mechanic I hope to get some guide line from experts here. Should I go for engine swap or overhauling of engine because suddenly I am out of budget

Waiting for your expert advice and opinions. And please if someone else has own this car I would love to see review.

Does it consume oil? Is there blue smoke in the exhaust?

The symptoms you describe sound like a choked catalytic converter.

Other things could be a weak fuel pump and dirty injectors so maybe a general check up of the fuel system and a tune-up could make things better.

Diagnose completely before wasting money.

I don't think its consume oil and no blue smoke in exhaust.

Kei is not an SUV. It's a slow 660 city car. Get your engine's compression tested, get your cat checked, get your injectors checked, fuel filter checked. Also, I assume it's a manual transmission car because you mentioned 5th gear. Get your clutch checked. Classic symptoms of a slipping clutch.

Oh Someone told me that kei is also known as small suv... anyways thanks for suggestion. Tomorrow I am going to a mechanic who knows keis... will update after 2 days In Sha Allah

Engine change should be your last solution. As valued members have suggested, carry out complete diagnostics first to actually know what is the issue then report back members can better advise you.

I have got it tested from 3 different mechanics and all said it needs engine swap simply! I am going for it finally...
