It happened back in January 2006 at around 7:20 AM on Double Road, G-9 opp khadda ground cross-over, Islamabad.
It happened at the occassion of wedding of our mba class-fellow and his elder brother. We friends hired 3 cars on rent for their wedding (barat of his elder bro, scheduled for Sialkot and his barat for Lahore on next day). I had Civic Exi-04, it was pleasured drive for Sialkot and we enjoyed the journey back to home safely but for next day was very unfortunate while leaving for Lahore.
I was supposed to pick 3 of my frnds from different sectors of Isb and then to join Barat pool in Rwp.. All 3 frnds got late and we were lagging behind, last frnd I picked-up from G9 Flats and got on way to Rwp.
Right after at Khadda Ground G-9 Cross-over a taxi from opposite road came and stopped at U-turn. I was at almost 90km/hr in 3rd gear about 50m away.. I left the accelerator and indicated him with dippers twice and he remained there stopped at U-turn and I got confident that he'll wait untill i pass-by, with the said i shifted back to 2nd gear reving it high for 3rd gear shift and at the same moment that taxi driver decided to cross my lane and started moving.
At that moment I was hardly couple of meters away from chowk, I floored the brakes at nearly 100km and witnessing that moron taxi driver has also applied brakes in middle of chowk and stopped there in centre in front of me, I got no other option other than to hit him with full force.... daaymmmmn!!! :frown:
Taxi floated back almost 20 to 25 feet... :frown:
Our bad, none of us was having seat-belts. My head strucked with side pillar I guess and I got unconcious black-out right away, my friend sitting next to me got his head hitted to wind-screen and started to bleed, two at the back seats got their faces strocked with front seat, one of them got blood from nose, other was quite fine.. Taxi driver was semi-concious and luckly got no visible injury. I got my senses back in about 5 min, and found myself resting my head on wheel. Apparently I was looking fine, though having a minor fracture in left hand palm that was identified later on check-up.
In next couple of minutes, ITP car and an ambulance arrived. They took taxi driver and my frnd to PIMS. Our other car from pool came in about 30 min and rest we've to settle in Police Station with owners of Taxi :S
We were lucky engouh that Taxi was empty and not carrying any passengers, otherwise it might had caused a serious injury or even a casualty for person sitting on left side (impact side).
Incident took me in great fobia and I was unable to drive for many weeks. My confidence was built gradually. Still thanks to Allah (s.w.t) that everyone's life was safe.
