I travelled all the way to this area in April 2010 which included Nagarparker, Khokrapar the last train station in Pakistan from where we can see the Indian border posts too. I had traveled to the same area in 1995 but now there is a world of change, President Musharraf has done a lot for this area, earlier there was no electricity, no roads, no schools and even no drinking water for this area, then drinking water used to come by train coming there once a day, and modified WW-II military trucks called KAIKRA (Crab) were the only mode of transportation in the desert. Now road has been built and it goes everywhere and that has brought everything in this area transforming this area like any other place in Sindh.
If you want to go to the Railway station at Khokrapar, the last 5 miles is no road but a track where car can go if you strictly follow the track as if you get off it by a meter you would be stuck in the sand, more importantly you need permission from the Rangers to visit the railway station, who have posts there.
Like I said the area is now like any city and village of Sindh and is safe and road is ok though you must be careful about fuel which you can fill in car's tank from petrol pumps at Chor or Umarkot.
Umarkot has an old fort and a lot of local embroidery and rully (bed sheet) which is great attraction for ladies and famous Hindu mithai (sweet) shop
