Few words about Mini Pajero from my side...
Nissan kix (or mini Pajero ) are quite capable 4x4 machines in there own category,
4A30 Turbo 660cc engine produces 64hp ( more power than suzuki pothohar)
mileage 10 kmpl city / 14-15 kmpl highway
4A30 NA 660cc produces aroud 55 hp (equivalent to 1.0 pothohar)
These engines are designed to be run on gasoline , when CNG was installed in these vehicles
these engines couldn't produce required power hence declared " fail " by local mechanics.
Approximate life of turbo is 200k km on these engines if properly taken care of, most the vehicles imported with high mileage and with the installation of CNG , turbos started to fail on these vehicles due to which mechanics gave bad repo to these engines in the past.
4A31 1100 cc pajero junior engine (powerful 80 hp) became popular / wonderful replacement to 660cc engine because it was non turbo and compatible with CNG , down side , it was low RPM engine and transmission / differential ratio of these mini pajeros was by default high keeping in view high RPM operation of 660cc engines. There fore it became necessary to install pajero junior differentials in 1100cc converted vehicles in order to attain better fuel economy, speed and power.
.
Auto transmission of these machines also need proper care and scheduled maintenance like any other auto transmission of Toyota or Suzuki.
these little jeeps are surprisingly loaded with (4L )4 Low range gear for low end torque required in demanding situations , which is even not present in toyota rush , RAV4 , terios and in most of fancy costly crossover SUVs...
i traveled on 1996 mini pajero 660 turbo ( having 2 lac kms plus mileage and weak smoke giving engine) to mahodand lake and various other mountain locations but it never disappointed me at any place... if you know in and out of your jeep you can easily drive it and get out of any off road stuck situation. jeep is always different than sedan in terms of mileage, speed and power.
