day 6: left gilgit at 9am and reached sost 5pm and spent the night there.
*the usual fare of hotels in sost is 600rs.
*we hired a suzuki dabba for gilgit-sost-gilgit for 6000rs.
*suzuki dabba is not recommended, go for liteace instead.
*if you intend to do khunjrab the same day skip leave gilgit very early and you can avoid staying at sost.
*we hired liteace for sost-khunjrab-sost for 4500rs.
*sost is a nice place to stay and you can reach khunjrab very early if you spend night at sost.
*there are many natural hot water ponds on the way, stop by to take a bath. we did it.
*ask your driver to show markhoors, only there trained eyes can spot them.
day7: left sost, reached attabad for boating, reached gilgit and spent the night.
*we came to gilgit because we had made gilgit our base and all our extra stuff was left there.
*another advantage of gilgit being the base is that transport is easily available to any place.
*when we reached attabad the boating was not being conducted so we just took pictures.
day8: left gilgit at 1pm and reached karimabad at 4pm, left for duikar at 6pm, left for aliabad at 730 and stayed the night at aliabad.
*karimabad is a majestic place, i cant describe its beauty.
*baltit fort is a must go, its way is through hunza bazar.
*duikar is eagle's nest point and best time to go is sunset or sunrise.
*we hired a suzuki wala for gilgit-karimabad-duikar-aliabad for 3500rs.
day9: left aliabad at 10pm, reached naltar village at 130pm, reached naltar lake at 230pm, left for gilgit at 5pm, reached gilgit at 8.
*dont stay at aliabad because there are no jeeps to be hired, either stay at gilgit or karimabad.
*when dealing with jeep wala always stress that you want to go "naltar lake" and not "naltar village"
*we went upto naltar village on our hired hiace and from naltar village to naltar lake we hired jeep for 3000rs.
*we hired a hiace from aliabad-naltar village-gilgit for 6500rs.
*upto naltar village, hiace can go but the road is in very bad shape. so jeep is preferable on this track as well.
*you can hire jeep for naltar from either gilgit or karimabad for 8000rs.(approx negotiable)
*there is camping area in naltar but we didn't do becuase of time issues.
*naltar lake water level was low as of 30may 2016 in july it would be deeper.
day 10: left gilgit at 11pm and reached astore at 2pm and reached rama meadow at 3pm and stayed in resthouse.
*cars can go upto rama
*camps are available at rama
*we took the same hiace for gilgit-rama-astore for 7500rs.
*guest house fares are 2500rs (approx) and negotiable.
*it was very cold so we went for rest house.
day11: left rama meadows at 10pm, reached astore at 11pm, stayed in astore for a night.
*astore is relatively less tidy compared to other cities of GB. there are not many hotels to stay.
*all natco or other hiroofs leave astore/gilgit for pindi around 9am. we wanted to leave the previous day but couldnt as all buses had left.
*natco fare is 1200 from astore to pindi. only hiroofs run on this road because road is narrow.
*we hired two rooms for 600rs each.
day12: reached pindi at 4am, flight to karachi was at 10am, reached karachi at 12.
*air blue fare from islamabad to karachi is 8500, if you book a week earlier it will be 7500.
