Dear Gurus,

Need a little help, especially from Guru Asif Saeed Sahib Bhai,

Asif bhai I want to visit (Thandoai / Sawaik Lake, Katas Temple, Bagan Wali Ruins or if possible Kanhati Waterfall) on Coming Sunday 28 April 2013, I want to share my visit plan and want to get some guidance from you regarding the plan if it is possible or not.

We are a group of 6 friends, will leave from Lahore Saturday Night around 02:00 AM, offer fajar prayer at Kallar Kahar Service area, from there we will leave to visit places above, like Katas temple, Thandoai /Swaik Lake, Began Wali Ruins)

Please guide us which one comes first Katas Temples or Thandoai / Swaik Lake ?

Which location we should visit first according to the route, coz I have not been there before.

If we spend 1 hour at Katas and 3 to 4 hours at Sawaik Lake, is it possible to visit Began Wali Ruins?

How far began wali ruin is from the sawaik lake ?

Or can we visit Kanhati Water fall at the same day ? which is at the opposite side of kallar kahar, or if I am wrong (Kanhati water fall, thandoai / swait are same J)

If Kanhati is not same how far it is from kallar kahar M-2?

Or can you guide / advice a plan to us for visit these location above (which place should be visited which not, which one we should visit first, second and third)

How deep is Thandoai / Swaik Lake?

When you went there (Thandoai Lake) where did you park your car ? can we park our car at any local?s house as we did in our last two trips to Tilla Jogian and Neelwan Pools as per your instructionsJ.

Is it safe to park your cars at the beginning of Kacha Track to Thandoai Lake.

Can you please give us your brief about going to Kanhati Water fall, how to reach there?

Any special advice or instructions from your side.

Asif bhai as per your concern on Fliker about the lake, we are well aware of it, we will get garbage bags with us and will bring back any sort of garbage from there as we did at neelwan poolz, its very important to keep these kind of locations clean and clear.

yar first of all all this cannot be done in one day u have to leave some things out..................

Bagan wali ruins,ketas and thandoi 1 he side par hai u can c them. kanhati is on other side of M2 so leave it out....

u can exit at KK and first visit Thandoi (if its still intact as i havnt been there since 2010.......)...

once u exit KK interchange u can go towards chua sadan shah and first u will encounter a chowk called jalebi more. than take a right on Cement factory road and reach a village called khandua...... from there u can ask locals to guide u. but i must say ull waste a lot of time looking for it the first time... then its a trek of abt 45 mins to the lake.....

then u will vist ketas whic is on main road so no rola......... (cm back from thandoi and turn right at jalibi more)....

then u can continue straight on that road and reach bagan wali ruins...

ull have to look for as i went along time ago and also form jehlum side.... thora andar hai wo main road say ..... but back then roads ahchi nai theen but ab good han tuu mushkil nai ho ge.......

Karnhati Water Springs are in Soon Valley approximately 2 Hours drive from Kalar Khar.

Summary of the Trip:

We a group of friends (7 friends) have recently (28 April 2013) visited Thandoai / Sawaik Lake, Katas Raj Temples. Initially Began wali Ruins (another historic location referred by Asif Saeed Bhai) was also in our visit list, but due to bad road condition (till Choe Sadan Shah) and hot weather we skipped this last location and completed our trip easily within one day limit, while going back to Lahore via Motorway, we had a stop for half an hour for photography under the bridge of River Jehlum.

Purpose:

Our main purpose to visit these location was Photography, Recreation and hanging out with friends.

Distance Covered:
Almost 600 Km for Round Trip (Lahore - Lahore)

Trip Cost :

Total trip cost was Rs 13200/-
Per head cost was Almost Rs 2000/-

Total cost includes:

3 Nos of life Jackets = Rs 1000/ each
1 No of Mazda 3500 Tyre Tube = Rs 400.
Petrol in 2 Cars Rs 4500 each = Total Rs 9000/- (from Home to Home, Lahore to Lahore).

Eatables:

We have used Homemade cold sandwiches (enough for total 16 Hours),
Homemade Burgers for Lunch,
Some chips,
Some bakery items (French hearts & coconut biscuits, Peanuts etc..),
Arrangements of tea (with teabags, coffee, everyday milk and hot water),
A small water cooler filled with ice, (for cold water enough for 8 to 12 hours)
Few cold drinks
Some necessary medicines etc.

(it was decided among ourselves that everyone should arrange any of the single item mentioned above by himself, for the trip, because for one day short trip we do not eat from hotels etc , to save the cost of our trip) :).

Once again to start with the image of Legendary Mr. Asif Saeed Bhai, which inspired me to plan the trip and go there with friends.

At the moment i am collecting the best images from all the group members to share here in this thread, so very soon i will post images here after sorting, please keep visiting this thread.

Dear Viewers, i have prepared maps indicating the route from Kallar Kahar to the Lake with Original Maps and a Actual location images of the highlighted portion, i hope it will give you a better idea to understand the route and to visualize the location from these images below.

A Complete Route From Kallar Kahar to Lake

From Motorway Crossing Till Lake

Picture No 1,2 & 3 are take while we were going back from the lake, Picture No 1 is from where you can see motorway, and picture 2 is just before entering into the tunnel / under motorway crossing, and picture no 3 is take from inside the tunnel, you can see there is a broken boundary wall of solid rocks outside the tunnel, which gives you access from "Choesadan Shah - Malot Road" towards Khandoyah Village.

Picture 1 is a kind of Sarkari School Surrounded by a boundary wall which is a kind of the mark from where you enter into the village, and right after this point a road turns left Upwards as shown in the picture no 2 and there is a primary school with a blue gate as shown in picture no 2 and picture no 3 shows the road that let you exit from the village and leads you towards an open space like a ground which is shown in the picture no 4. in this image you can see two mountains and a road inbetween, you can park your cars in this ground if you want to, but if you want to take your cars further you can take, till the start of the trek you will see in next images . But my recommendation you should park your vehicles in this flat ground, its safe there, next KACHA road ahead is bumpy and suitable for jeeps etc.

There pictures on the map are of the road after the big ground just to have an idea of the road after the ground, in picture no 3 this is the area where we parked both of our vehicles which was 500 to 700 meters away from the ground and at that point the road is little bit wider and suitable for parking, just below that point in the fields there was harvesting of wheat going on, and we requested locals to take care of our vehicles in our absence.

From The Start Of Trek, Till The Top Of The Mountain

Picture no 1 on the map below is the area just few meters from the top of the mountain, in picture no 2 and 3 we are just top of the mountain from where you turn left downwards. The total distance from the start of the trek till the top of the mountain as shown in picture no 3 (From Point A to B) is around 450 meters.
