AoA everyone, i have a 2004 mercedes c class. I Need to lower it, when we first purchased the vehicle it was already a bit lowered but still wasn't very low according to my standards. I like my cars low to the ground, mashALLAH the car drives and handles well. It has 17's on it, very wide tyres. I have a set of springs that i got from the US and it drops the vehicle about 1.5 inch front and rear. Now any idea how long it takes to lower a car? and how much would it cost me to install it from a professional mechanic? I live in karachi so i was thinking of taking it to Khan Motors or other mechanics near their vicinity. Ashraf is my personal mechanic since he deals in foreign cars mostly. Thanks.
along with the springs you can fit smaller spring pads (available at shahnawaz) which allows you to tailor the drop a bit more. the work isn't too hard and can be done in around 2 hours.
Thanks Storm, i was hoping u come to this thread sooner or later. If its a Benz or VW u mostly tend to show up. How much the pads will cost me? I don't deal with Shahnawaz because they are notoriously known for high prices. My dad only services his W210 e class from them since no one in karachi can service W210's as good as them, but back to my question, how much would a professional mechanic charge for all this work?
the spring pads can tailor the height in 3mm increments and are used mostly to counter production differences. For massive changes you need shorter springs and shocks.
not to sure what hte going rate for pads is nowdays in PK but as you said, shahnawaz will be expensive. as for the spring swap, as it is a short(ish) job it should only cost you around 2-4000rs depending on who you use (or 6k at shahnawaz if they don't waste time like they usually do).
any shop would have a regular spring compressor - its not like the W210, 124, 140, 123, 126, 116 where you need an internal spring compressor.
its a pretty simple job. - but pads wont change much. btdt
Got it, thanks. And no way in hell am i going to go thru Shahnawaz.
I suppose so but for now i am going to replace only my current springs and install the new ones to see how much i drop. If still not satisfied then i will go for adjustable.
