Hi all,
I have recently bought a Thai Hilux Vigo 2012 model, with full TRD kit. My previous vehicle was a Toyota Surf.
I have agricultural lands in district Thatta, Sindh province, for which I visit the katcha area in Sindh very frequently (sometimes even up to 3 times a week). So, on my Surf, I had bought and installed brand new Bridgestone Dueler 265 65 17 A/T (all terrain) tyres. However, even with those brand new tyres I used to get a puncture almost once every 2 to 3 weeks (often because of 2 inch long devi thorns which used to pierce through the tyres).
Now, after doing a bit of research online, I have come across a tyre which I really like - the Goodyear Wrangler 265 65 17 m/t (mud terrain) with kevlar (the material used in bullet proof jackets (see here https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-mtr-kevlar)
It seems as if with this tyre, I should be safe from visiting the tyre shop so frequently. However, my concerns are as follows:
1) I have heard mud terrains make a lot of road-noise. Is that so? Will it be noticeable if I've got the windows up and the a/c in the car turned on (compared to Bridgeston Dueler a/t)?
2) I have heard the road grip of m/t's is really bad?
3) Bad m/t road grip on wet surfaces?
4) Poorer fuel efficiency with m/t?
Some websites mentioned some of the above as myths. What's the story with this?
Please advise! Thanks in advance.
